Shifting Hatred
at 12:53 9 Jan 2020

I spent the early years (80s) of my Dale supporting career hating Stockport and the BIFFOs then a bit later Burnley in the late 80s/early 90s. Stockport and Burnley then both drifted in different directions to be replaced by the Buckets in my prime hatee list, though I still dislike both.

I never gave a shit about Bolton even when they joined us in Division 4 for a brief spell. I can now safely say I hate Bolton more than any other club. It's obviously impossible to hate the Buckets now and I'll always hate the BIFFOs but Bolton's last 6 months has really done it for me. The self-entitlement that permeates throughout the club, the cheating, the way they've been let off the hook by the incompetent EFL, the Billy big bollocks attitude (even though the tin-pottery at their away turnstiles earlier this season was hilarious) and the whole infuriating Radio Bolton farce just makes me detest them like no other. Nothing to do with locality or the fact that one of our ex-managers is at the helm (although his contradictory bollocks - which he has always had a penchant for - clearly doesn't help).

I also hate Salford City more than the BIFFOs now, but that needs no explanation. I have always hated Birmingham City but have no idea why.

Anyone else finding their hatreds shifting?

Club Shop - vouchers?
at 19:00 23 Mar 2016

Does anyone know if the club shop sells gift vouchers? Got one of my lads mates birthday approaching, he's Dale mad but hard to know what to get him. A voucher for the club shop would be ideal - could always put it towards next seasons kit. Can't find any mention of them online. Anybody know?

Motorhead at Spotland (nfr)
at 18:48 8 Sep 2015

Just listening to the new album (which isn't bad). Just wondering if any old rockers out there actually watched them when they played Spotland (Ray's Place I presume) in the late 70s. I got into them about 1980 and remember a faded promo poster still on the wall next to the Sandy turnstiles advertising the gig from a couple of years earlier (I tried unsuccessfully to remove said poster for my bedroom wall). Seem to remember they were supported by The Heavy Metal Kids who were fronted by Gary Holton who later found fame as Wayne in Auf Wiedersehen Pet before meeting an untimely death! Anyone there that night at Spotland? Were they any good??

Great guitarist (not dead, I don't think) not the best songwriter, but has done one particularly good song...

Encouraged today
at 00:30 2 Oct 2011

Not just by the performance and result (Although IMHO the opposition were pretty awful, you can only beat what's put in front of you) but also by the fact we weren't pulling everybody back for corners. Leaving 2 on the half way line as we seemed to be doing gives us so mush more impetus if we win posession from a corner. Thought we did it well today.

Its Barrymore!
at 19:12 10 Jun 2011

A good sauce tells me Michael Barrymore is now firmly in the frame for the job. He's plenty of experience and not afraid to use youth now and again. Also known to host the odd 'Promotion' party at his pad.

Anyone going to stick some wedge on him?

One man and his baseball bat 'Ouch!' went to mow at Spotland"

Great Expectations?
at 08:05 6 Jun 2011

Now that Hill has gone and attention turns to who his successor will be, the most patient fans in football are going to have to be more patient than ever.

No matter what you think of Hill and his departure — personally not surprised, nor in the way it happened. He’s always been about himself, his reign was littered with contradictions and hypocrisy, however his management style was fabulous, style of play a joy to watch and results and achievements second to none — huge shoes to fill.

With interviews this week, whoever Dunphy appoints may not have all or even any of Hill’s management qualities. Hill has been poached by a Championship club for good reason. Whoever we appoint hasn’t.

We may get lucky, like we did 4 and a half years ago, but it’s quite unlikely. Keeping us up this season would have still been a big ask for Hill, with all his qualities and continuity, and our best players (who, lets face it will be on Hill’s list if he decides to dry-bum us even more by unsettling the likes of COG) so for a new man, his staff and new players to come in and steady a rocky ship is going to be a mammoth task, just keeping us in league 1. Our playing budget will probably still put us in the bottom 4.

Many are talking as if a new guy’s going to come in and just carry on where Hill left off, but its unlikely to be as easy as that. If it happens and we stay up — great. If we do better than that, then fantastic. But if we go down we need to go down fighting — as TEAM ROCHDALE.

I can’t see Dunphy appointing someone like the (un-named) odious creeps we’ve had in the recent past, so we need to place our trust in our board, stick together and get behind the new regime. Our patience will be sorely tried, but we’re going to have to show plenty of it. Our new manager will not be Keith Hill — he’s somewhat unique, but keep the faith all the same!

Roll on the next 7-year plan.

Just hope we pass the arrogant get on our way up whilst the Yarksher turds continue to slide!

Dale-O-Vision Song Contest (Part 342)
at 08:02 15 Apr 2011

Yeah, I know this has been done to death but we really do need a song we can call our own if we're going to continue to rise up the table(s). Tuesday nights atmosphere was terriffic, but apart from the mandatory "Up the Dale Up the Dale" and "Dale Dale Dale" all we're doing is plagiarising other teams songs. We need something like Delilah that is ours and won't be defunct when a certain player or manager moves on. Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, I give you "Nobody Does it Better" by Carly Simon (Bond Theme)

Nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it
Half as good as you
Rochdale you're the best

Followed by a chorus of "Up the Dale!"

Its a winner, you know it makes sense!

Someone get it started tomorrow, I'm a bit shy.

Shall I get me coat?
