Desperate Tories - or tactical masterstroke?
at 20:03 1 May 2024

Neither the Tories or the Labour Party are inept Solent toffee.

They both know full well that for our economy to function properly given our long term declining birth rate, immigration is an absolute must. In particular to successfully staff the N H S and the Care Industry.

The smoke and mirrors currently being used by the Tory Party to divert attention away from the 672000 legal immigrants who they have allowed to enter the country in the year to June 2023 is to blame the “ boat people” who’s numbers are minuscule in comparison.

Blaming one group of people ( In this case boat people) for all the countries problems is a classic divide and rule tactic. Particularly appealing in my opinion in this instance, to the hard of thinking and or racist older voter.

Sadly we never learn from history. Indeed today our media is awash with headlines of human beings “ rounded up “ for deportation. Language pretty much identical to that used by the Gestapo in Germany prior to and during the period 1932 to 1945.

Thanks for the explanation franniesTache, yet another benefit of Brexit caused by David Cameron giving in to the swivel eyed loons in the Tory Party.

The same David Cameron who promised to stay as Prime Minister and negotiate for us whatever the result of the referendum only to resign the morning after the vote. A man with no honour or principles whom Rishi Sunak recently saw fit to make Foreign Secretary.

Yes, I was there to see us win our only major trophy since 1885.

I’ll never forget returning down the M3 with every bridge a sea of red and white with neutral fans applauding that we had beaten Manchester Utd, who were despised equally as much then as they are now.

I will say however that post match Tommy Doc was very gracious in defeat.

Everton Loaned More Money

Don’t make a worry of it Nick.

There is no way that the Premier League the F A or the Referees Union will let Everton go into administration or out of business. There’s too much vested interest in allowing them to play on, just ask Nottingham Forest about the non use of V A R when last they played at Goodison.

The case for sticking with Russell Martin
at 20:29 30 Apr 2024

There in lies the problem felly1, recognising when a manager is a busted flush as you put it.

In the case of Ralph he should have gone at the end of the season before last. I’m way beyond middle age now, but if memory serves we only won one ( Arsenal 1-0 at home when Forster played probably his best ever game for us ) of the last fourteen games and got hammered 4-0 by Leicester on the last day. Yet Ralph was given another chance and we all know how that ended.

Ralph didn’t want to change and in my opinion that’s also the biggest problem with Russell Martin and his tippy tappy ( some call it possession based ) football. Not knowing your best team, ridiculous substitutions and poor game management I can understand, but continuing with a system that has clearly failed to deliver automatic promotion is a concession to far for me I afraid.

The case for sticking with Russell Martin
at 17:47 30 Apr 2024

Yes, keep him apart from:-

1. His tippy tappy football was found out after the Huddersfield home game when a side now soon to be relegated put three goals by us before half time. We went on to win but from that moment on every other team in The Championship knew how to play us. Russell Martin did nothing subsequently to change our possession based football resulting in us missing out on automatic promotion. 63% possession with not one shot on goal at Leicester only last Tuesday springs immediately to mind.

2. With one game left of the regular season Russell Martin still doesn’t know his best team. One example among many being the ludicrous light weight forward line he put out against Hull at home resulting in an unnecessary defeat.

3. Throughout the whole season so far Russell Martin’s use of substitutes and game management has consistently been beyond anyone’s comprehension.

You are fully entitled to your opinion felly1 and I respect it but please don’t expect me to agree with it.

Bazza, if you refer to the latest figures from The Office of National Statistics for the year ending June 2023 you will find that 672000 more people legally entered the UK than left it during that year.

What you described as a huge influx of asylum seekers ( I assume you refer to boat people ? ) is minuscule in comparison.

Out of interest, are you of the opinion that immigration to the UK is a problem generally or is your concern restricted solely to asylum seekers ? I ask because should it be legal immigrants you are worried about then the current Government don’t appear to be too bothered. Indeed, if they were then perhaps they would have done something to limit the 672000 who came legally ?

Not content with him making a complete doughnut of himself on Thursday the Tories put him up to represent them on this Sunday’s 09.00 political programme. Christ on a bike, if he is the best that they have to offer it really isn’t difficult to see why they are 20 odd points behind in the polls is it?

That’s the problem though dirk doone they can’t think, witness the empty suit Tory MP on BBC Question Time this past Thursday.

The woman who chairs the event had to explain to him that Rwanda and The Democratic Republic of Congo were in fact two separate countries.

Worryingly, or though perhaps not surprisingly, the clown was introduced as the current Government minister responsible for policing.

Don’t let your backside hit the door on your way out Russell Martin.

I posted on April 2 after the Ipswich defeat that Sports Republic should roll the dice and sack him with Steve Cooper as his replacement.

Had they done so we would still be in the automatic promotion race. They didn’t, and it’s now plain to see that the players have given up on him and his ridiculous, ineffective, tippy tappy possession based nonsense.

Even if by some absolute fluke we win the playoffs I don’t want him to remain in charge. With his style of play, no plan B and ludicrous use of substitutes we would end up with less points than Derby when they last played in The Premiership.

Don’t make a worry of it kentsouthampton. You see, in Russell Martin’s world goals are just an inconvenience, wasting time when players should be concentrating on improving their tippy tappy, backward and sideways passing.

Ever heard of smoke and mirrors kingslandstand01 ?

Whilst you are wittering on about a relative small number of people know as “boat people” hundreds of thousands of people are coming into the country legally. Presumably you have no problem with them having housing or do you think that they bring their houses with them ?

I’m reminded of the old adage “ Never let the facts get in the way of a good story”.

Thanks for the explanation LondonSaint76.

Throughout life I’ve always born in mind the expression “ follow the money” and this weekend’s football has done nothing to suggest the expression is without substance.

Nottingham Forest have three appeals for a penalty and as far as I’m aware none were looked at by V A R. Any coincidence that they are playing against one of the established supposedly big clubs who are in the process of building a new ground ? Relegation for Everton would almost certainly put them into administration and possibly even out of business.

Later in the day Coventry have the deciding “ goal” disallowed with seconds remaining. Much more profitable for the F A and T V companies to sell an all Manchester Cup Final to places like Asia is it not ? After all, I doubt most people there have ever heard of Coventry or that they even have a football team.

The types of incidents mentioned above happen ever more readily nowadays hence it’s my opinion that the possibility of corruption has become evermore likely.

Last gasp Coventry goal disallowed because of offside in the build up.

V A R and the useful idiots who operate it ensuring that the what I suspect the F A and T V companies wanted they got, an all Manchester Cup Final.

Corruption or just bad luck ?

With Russell Martin in charge it really doesn’t matter who we play in the playoffs.

Having lost in the F A Cup against Liverpool Schoolboys and Cardiff Juveniles in the Championship he will manage to find a way to engineer a defeat over two legs should either Norwich or West Brom decide to play without a goal keeper.

Every sympathy with you Southamptonfan together with all the others who travelled to Cardiff and have also supported the team around the country this season.

Small consolation though it may be but I very much suspect that buying Wembley tickets is not going to trouble your bank balance this season.

Russell Martin’s tippy tappy sideways and backwards football isn’t the recipe for playoff success and as has been proved all season long, he has no plan B. Hopefully he will be off to Brighton in the close season.

No, they would probably send a marketing questionnaire reminding you that if you were fortunate enough not to die then don’t forget that you qualify for a burger and chips and a couple of drinks at the bargain price of £120.
