Just one point, that’s all we ask!!!!!!

I don't think anyone can argue other than the results since the Cowleys arrived have been very disappointing. I expected Colchester United to be well clear of the lower depths by now and I've paid a heavy price for that expectation.

However, unlike you, I still have great faith in the brothers. I expect The U's to survive this weekend and come Christmas to be in a promotion race. One thing I'm always wary of is a manager's shelf-life. With the exception of Alex Ferguson I can't think of any manager who didn't eventually lose his touch, unless he got out early enough. Perhaps the Cowleys who were so successful at Braintree and Lincoln are not quite as able now; but I don't think so.

I believe the appointment of the Cowleys is the best since Parkinson and in time that will become clear.

For now, Up The U's and success against Crewe.

I share your optimistic view. From the moment the Cowleys were announced I've been confident Colchester United would avoid relegation this season. If the brothers are given a competitive budget in the summer I'd expect a promotion challenge next season.

Hatters to lose their heads in defeat to DC's blue and white army at the JCS
at 09:05 10 Apr 2024

I've just read a few pages of the match thread on Yellowboard, the main Stockport County message-board. Quite a number of complimentary comments about Colchester's performance, for example "Quick word on Col U, travesty if they go down, nowhere near as bad as FGR, Sutton or Grimsby"; "How on Earth are they threatened with relegation?" and "They (Colchester) are a horrible, bruising comfortable mid-table side. Cowleys can clearly coach. Can we have Fevrier?"

A missed penalty away from a very good point but a miss is as good as a mile.
I remain confident The U's won't be relegated but they put you through it; and I'm nearly 300 miles away!

Parky shocked by the strength of DC's blue and white army at JCS today

I believe and hope you are correct. If any player reacts negatively to DC's post-match comments it will say a lot about them and, whichever division The U's are in next season ( I'm confident it will be League Two) such a player is unlikely to be still at Colchester.

Well they've picked up an undeserved point and denied The Mariners a very important victory.

A very good point and an impressive performance. More nerve-racking than enjoyable but you didn't look like a bottom-half side.

I'm looking forward to seeing Colchester United play. I think I've seen you play once before, other than brief highlights on The EFL Show. 18th November, 2006 we won 3-1; you beat us by the same score later that season. I had a season-ticket so, though I've no recollection of the match, I'd presume I was at The SOL on that autumn day.

Ha'way The U's!

A superb result for The Mariners. Three weeks ago David Artell was receiving terrible vitriolic abuse with few defending him. It shows the folly of judging too soon and how quickly things can change.

By my reckoning that could mean eleven matches in five weeks.

The Cowley's five games in
at 12:53 10 Mar 2024

Fortunes can change very quickly.

Stevenage finished 21st in League Two 2021-2. The next season they finished second and were promoted in second place. They went from eleven wins one season to twenty-four the next.

Barrow finished 22nd in League Two 2021-2. Last season they finished ninth and this season they're currently sixth.

I'm confident Colchester United are capable of a similar improvement.

It shouldn't be forgotten that two months before they accepted the Colchester job they turned down the opportunity to manage at easily the biggest club in League Two.

Geography clearly worked to the advantage of The U's. The brothers' careers were on the slide but it was still a massive coup to persuade them to come to Colchester.

Providing they don't get The U's relegated this season (and I am confident they won't) I fully expect Colchester United to be in League One within a further two seasons. If and when they win League One is another matter.

When do we start to worry…..

I would only start to worry if the Cowleys departed the club. While Danny and Nicky are at Colchester United I'm fully confident the future is bright.

The 93rd minute goal FGR conceded on Tuesday followed by their loss today have swung things decisively. Another defeat for Sutton means it's looking fairly healthy for Colchester though, obviously, you're not out of the woods yet.

DC's U's to prevail against the "Dirty Old Town" at Moor Lane
at 22:43 27 Feb 2024

"May you live in interesting times" is a Chinese saying, and they don't mean it kindly. I think Colchester supporters, along with those of FGR, Sutton and Grimsby, have an "interesting" eight and a half weeks ahead of them. But you've got an ace in the hole with the Cowleys. I remember Danny saying when his Huddersfield side seemed in real danger "we'll go down over my dead body"!
I trust it won't come to that as surely after six draws in eight games you'll be turning them into wins soon. But whatever happens just remember "you've got the Cowley brothers" and next season will be enjoyable wherever The U's are!

Today's will be Morison's ninth game in charge. They have been very unfortunate not to win any of those matches and haven't been faraway in all of them. Let's hope today isn't the day their luck changes.
