That Great Friday Feeling, moving on to Sunday
at 11:14 24 May 2024

Leeds benefit from the same media love-in that Newcastle get. Apparently if you are from a big city but never win anything you somehow deserve to be in the premier league.

To a point I get it. However the PL is better for having teams of all sizes in my opinion. Bournemouth deserve to be there equally as much as Leeds if not more.
The fact these "big" clubs never win anything is more of a testament to how badly they are run so I'm not sure they "deserve" anything.
Plus Mills used to play for them so there s that.
Anyway who cares, the only thing that matters is who sticks the ball in the net on Sunday.

Sunday is NOT "a good day out"
at 08:56 23 May 2024

Well good point, we will lose players.
I'd personally rather go up btw.
But I suppose we would always be one of the bigger teams in the championship and I'd expect us still to be in the top 6 next year.

I know what you mean but I think that applies to a one off game such as Sunday.
I'd rather have a good manager than a lucky one over a season. Lady Luck is a fickle mistress.

Thing is, if we go up, we would probably be one of the favourites to come straight back down. So there is a chance we will only get PL money for one year.
How does that stabilise the club. We were there for around ten years before that taking the money and we still went down.

I guess for the club, it is better to be in the PL. Our profile is higher, we can recruit better players and sell them on for more money etc etc.
However for a fan point of view many of us prefer being at the top end of the championship competing home and away, than fighting relegation and getting beat most weeks.
I suppose that if we are premier league then there is also a better chance of someone with really big money buying us. The top 7 or 8 are already owned by billionaires or country states so that might mean anyone else looking to own a PL club will start looking further down the league. Who knows?
I want to win any game particularly one of this significance, but there are plenty of fans who won't shed too many tears if we get another season in the championship

Extra PlayOff Tickets
at 21:18 22 May 2024

Only ticket I could get was club Wembley.
Is that going to be a comfy seat, great view and fun? Or boring, surrounded by prawn sandwich munchers and empty for 20 minutes after half time?
I'd rather be behind the goal to be honest, but I suppose better than nothing.

Have Leeds managed to sell all their tickets yet?

Let's face it, their end will be as full as ours. The only thing that really matters is who wins the game.

Consequences
at 09:45 19 May 2024

I guess for us old enough to remember the 80's it does seem a fuss about nothing.
Some west brom fan on twitter was complaining we 'goaded' them, dear god so what, that's what fans do.
I dont understand how the club did not take better steps to deal with it.
I for one knew people would be on the pitch and judging by the messages on the screens so did they. I would have thought they could have at least cordoned off the away corner.

But even then it was nothing, mostly high spirits whilst filming each other for Instagram. Are we at the stage where 'goading' is too far?
Luckily we have moved on from the 80's or that would have been really nasty.
But in reality, not much happened did it. Let's not sanitise the game completely.

Crowd of less than 25,000 looming for play-off semi home leg

Funny how we glance at these numbers and think it's not too bad. In most other business's if you lost 90 million in a year it would be shut and everyone would be out of a job. Football finances are mental.

5 Things About West Brom
at 17:54 13 May 2024

Tbf the one gripe u can have with our fans is that we really do have one song really. Occasionally we get something else like the Rivkie Lambert song for example. But other than that it's just owts over and over.
I've no idea why, but some other clubs seem to have a dozen songs they go through but we never do. Dunno why?
We are as loud as anyone else on the day, just wish we had a few other decent songs.

Even Jo tessem was saying we pass sideways and backwards too much. He also said some players make decent runs but we just don't show ambition to attack and make chances. What is the point of football if you dont try to attack??
That's pretty damning.

Ex playere No.96 coming back?

I'd hope we've learned our lesson. Names like Ings and OC are tempting but I hope someone is looking at the hard facts. We can't afford another Ross Stewart.

Who wrote that? Nick?

That is very unusual for him to criticise the manager so directly.

FA Cup Replays scrapped - Winter break gone

I hope the club actually takes a stand here here rather than total silence. Silence looks like approval.

If the EFL clubs all refuse to accept it then it won't happen. Just refuse to enter the cup.

I do remember going to the semi against Watford at Villa Park and his son was on our minibus, dunno why. He's called Mick too I think and he was a really good lad and a huge Saints fan.

The fine margins between success and failure
at 08:53 2 Apr 2024

It' the mentality more than anything.
We are ok when it goes our way but we are so fragile once it doesn't.
That last goal was terrible. It went out to their left and our defender should have sprinted to get near the guy and stop him getting the ball in but he ambled toward him and never got within 10 feet of him. More concerned with holding his hands behind his back.
The ball came in to a player that also wasn't marked. that guy fell over and we still didn't close him down. He had time to get up, and scuff the ball into the net. How?
Where was the urgency??

Is it all sunshine and roses for football players?
at 12:56 25 Mar 2024

Aside from just feeling sympathy for someone that struggles, are they any different from everyone else. they just have more money.
We are all unsupervised once we leave work and some people do alright in life and some people start drinking or drugs or get depression. It doesn't seem something peculiar to footballers, it's just a bit more a surprise as they seem to have more advantages.

I'm sure our strikers work on finishing every day but sooner or later they simply hit their level. Adams and Armstrong are not suddenly going to improve now. Really good finishers are instinctive. They just have that calmness and awareness at the right moment that i don't think you can teach.
They are also extremely expensive!
