Eze for England!
at 06:31 29 May 2024

I fear for his England opportunities.
I know that has left us (!) but, like many others and however irrational it is, I care because of lingering pride.
But, I remember how certain talented QPR players of the past fared when they got into the England squad.
In his first game, I think Marsh was given eight minutes. Bowles won fewer caps that he should have. The problem is, managers are not always ready to allow such players the freedom that they need to be at their best.

Rumour Plymouth manager gone
at 06:22 29 May 2024

I (and quite a few other Rs fans, I think) live in Plymouth.
It may count for very little, but there is a great deal of excitement about Rooney coming here. My wife said 'He is going to be like Plymouth royalty'.
I smiled when, in a TV interview, he said that he expected to be out and about among Plymouth fans and that they would see him in local restaurants.
Like most others, I would not want him managing QPR, but, we shall see.

Pre season fixtures
at 20:01 28 May 2024

I remember 2021 (I think).
Those teams played us pre-season because of the style of football that we were playing.
It served us well.
We beat Man Utd and Leicester scraped a draw.
It was all very encouraging.

Anyone else hear Andy Hinchcliffe, talking of the Championship, say 'It never ever fails to let you down'.

Transfer rumours 2024
at 18:14 21 May 2024

Not sure that a 17-year old French professional footballer could be advised to re-locate to London. Do QPR have the ability to look after him? Man Utd used to do that sort of thing with young British players. Could we do it with a French lad?

Southgate’s replacement.
at 19:45 20 May 2024

They (the lower league team with Pep in charge) would undoubtedly play better than they did before, but, they would soon reach their limits because the level of skill of each individual player would hold back the development of the team. It would show up in many ways, not least when, for example, the 'ordinary' player - lacking the skill of a top-flight player - was under pressure and had to make a quick decision on what to do with the ball.

Agreed Hayesboy. Well done QPR. That is a wonderful review of Frank's career.

Transfer rumours 2024

Not QPR, but a rumour close to where I live:

Rumour: ‘Michael Cooper’s departure from Plymouth Argyle will shortly be announced, for a fee in the region of £8 million’

£8 million? What did we get for Seny? Is Cooper that good?

Lots of memories there.
Anyone remember the white-painted message somewhere on the Ellerslie Road side of the ground?
It was either 'Rodney must stay' or 'Rodney must not go'.

Pleased that he is doing well and enjoying himself.
But, as for QPR, the challenge is to find a new 'Adel' rather than call the old one.

Are we capable of going up next season.
at 11:26 1 May 2024

Depends on retention and recruitment, but we should plan to get in the top six. Planning for mid-table is a dangerous strategy. It would not suit talented, ambitious players, nor is it 'safe'. A few unfortunate results and it becomes a relegation fight.

Not quite the same thing as previous posts, but...
about four years ago, calling at a petrol station just outside Morlaix in Brittany, the French chap at the desk asks 'You like football?' 'Yes'.
'Which team?'
'Queens Park Rangers'
'Ah. Stan Bowles' he said.

Anderson on the win, the team, the crowd and staying up

Interesting point Stainrod. Is it, at least partly, that the Scandinavians (and other 'minorities') know that they have to learn English to get on in the world and in this country, for years, we have been teaching our children that good use of English does not actually matter very much?

I could not believe the time and space that we won in midfield. Not sure if it was Marti's tactics or a failing on the part of Leeds United, but if it was a result of planning, then we ought to download it into the QPR memory bank for next season.
