Good point, it's absolutely ridiculous! Heading footballs is a no-no, but smashing people's heads for a living with ludicrous-looking gloves till they fall over is fine. Go figure! |

Sorry, I know this is a very ecumenical message board, but, really, a line in the sand has to be drawn somewhere! Why would you not talk to a consumer organisation about this kind of thing? I come here to read and write about all things QPR, not dive into the minutiae of other people's lives. |

I (still) agree; it still really rankles. The way the professional football authorities (don't) deal with corruption is itself corrupt. |

So our allocation was 50% higher than Derby's? |

Just out of interest, does anyone remember how many we took that day? Was it about 30k? |

What a depressingly cynical/parasitic 'if you can't beat them join them' world-view - so why have an Academy at all on that basis!? You also don't seem to wonder for even a minute why ours should be so much less successful than others. In the meantime, your grimly chortlesome rebranding of JCS with an acronym that stands for 'joint-stock company' tells one a lot about your soulless polemic. Personally, my own view would be the complete antithesis, but I'm an old-fashioned fool for (QPR) love! [Post edited 23 May 11:40]

Now that Moyes is on his way and their season's done, the Spammers couldn't have been more on the beach today if the whole squad literally phoned in their performance from the Bahamas. That's six of the last seven Prem titles going to Citeh - what a joke! The Scottish Prem is more competitive when it comes to their tinpot crown - at least there are two teams who compete for it. FFP, wipe my arse! [Post edited 19 May 18:02]

I like Sints, even if I think he could take a few more risks with his commentary at times - which is why he was such a good foil for the much-missed Nick London, who was a bit more fanatically partisan. But is his 'scream' less a scream than a hooped whoop? Or possibly a yell? |

But where does that analysis leave the likes of Taylor Richards? Isn't it fairly clear his brain (if indeed he has one) is still developing too? |

Historically, has the goalkeeping position arguably been the one in which QPR have been the strongest? We've had some really good keepers over the years; in no particular order of merit/appearance, Parkes Hucker Woods Burridge Seaman Barron Stejskal Camp Kenny Miklosko Smithies And Green, I suppose, who played (not very well) for England. Mind you, I guess you'd also have to factor in Roberts, Lumley, and Ikeme (who Wolves rated so highly they loaned him to EIGHT different clubs, and whose clownish part in that hammering at Leicester under early Warnock still turns my stomach). |

It wasn't six years, so no need to exaggerate to try to get your point over the line. It was basically two (2021-23 at Everton). As I've already pointed out, he played 45 games in his last season with Bournemouth in the Champ, and 119 games (inc. loans) in total between 2017-2021. I'm kind of playing devil's advocate as I think he's probably run his race with us now, but some of the comments here are OTT. In Marti I trust! |

No it's not - it's seriously misleading. As any pro manager will agree, any team defends (or fails to defend) from the front. If Begovic had too much to do (whether he did it or not), especially in the first part of the season, that was as much down to those in front of him (or not in front of him). |

Although Greenwich-born, Ebs' progenitors are actually Igbo-Nigerian, who I read '[s]ince the defeat of the Republic of Biafra in 1970, [.] are sometimes classed as a "stateless nation"'. Does that mean that he could not only play for (Igbo) Nigeria but actually start his own landless international team and play for it? I'll get my Asooke jacket. |

Clive's in-depth analysis is certainly worth reading, even if I don't necessarily agree with all his conclusions, and some of the detail is contestable, e.g. he played 45 games for Bournemouth (15 clean sheets) in his last season with them, which is hardly spotty, and Everton reportedly offered him a new contract in 2023 (where he was understudy to Pickford, which hardly makes him a poor keeper or lazy professional), which he rejected to come to us. At the same time (unless he plays for a pro or semi-pro team), and with all respect to the man, I'm not sure how you can claim this qualifies him to empathise with Begovic at his rather higher level. The contexts are, obviously, completely different. As has been pointed out by a number of us, we had one of the best goals against records in the division post-Marti, and Begovic has to get his fair share of credit for his part in that, obviously. Agree, though, at the very least, we probably need a young pretender to challenge his position next season if he stays. [Post edited 17 May 16:49]

Agree with that - the brickbats hurled at Begovic (who admittedly didn't do himself too many favours with his pro-Chelsea social media postings, and who I don't think should have been captain) were OTT, and he deserved a C(+) at least. Made the odd (bad) mistake, but no more than Seny ever did, especially at the end, and kept us in games. If he's here next season, I'd be OK with that, but if not, we need decent, reliable quality between the sticks. |

OK, but I'm not just talking about that overall table, I'm talking about the club's failure to bring through sustained talent that turns pro with the club and establishes itself in the 1st team. By that key standard, we've been diabolical for as long as I can remember. Of those three players identified in the table as QPR, I would also assume one of them is Aaron Drewe, who's been released. It's not good, especially when you also look at the slew of recent releasees. But let's hope we're turning a ludicrously long corner, finally. |

Very incisive, well done you! The stats are up to date, and there are other clubs that could be cited here. If Bristol City and Blackburn are 'freaks', give me some of their freakishness and none of your lazy lack of counter-argument. If you think our development set-up hasn't shockingly under-delivered in recent years (and I'm hardly an eccentric on this topic, as several others have agreed with me here - including this site's Blessed Leader in his interview with LF - not that I need to lean on others), you're obviously a victim of the club's downwardly managed expectations. Wake up, we've a new broom, and the future might even be blue and white! [Post edited 14 May 21:58]
