Obviously contracts are confidential however when asked after Eze made a substitute appearance for England Phillip Beard replied he would be absolutely delighted if Eze started a game for England. The deal with Palace always had a lot of add ons money based on appearances (as long as Palace remained in the Premier league) etc and I am guessing this was a big sell on clause my guess would be circa £2M. I also believe the 20% sell on fee is for the whole amount not just the differance on any profit Palace may make. Don't we all just love Eze..... |

Kenny Sansom v Arsenal FA cup replay always brings a smile as does Clive Allen against Crystal Palace in the quarter and WBA in the semi final. Michael Robinson from the half way line away at Chelsea in the league cup. Arh the days of cup runs - once upon a time……. |

That’s a good summary. I would like to see Walsh start next season with Asmir on the bench on much reduced wages mentoring him and also bringing Salamon on for the following season. |

I guess it was only a matter of time - Hopefully his head won't be turned by this one. Stay with us and build on last season and better offers will come..... |

Keeping everything crossed he does start - Seems like this maybe the opportunity. What a nice boost to our pre season budget that would be. We get the money from his England clause then he has a good Euro's and goes for £75M in the summer...... Saturday night and I like the way you move...... |

Thank you Clive - Another great write up and pretty much spot on with my thoughts too. I have been a big critic of Chair this season especially in the early part of the season for all the reasons you stated but no doubt he finished the season strongly and cares for the club. Fingers crossed he has a good lawyer and can get his situation sorted out over the summer. Another great bit of business from Les in signing Taylor Richards who I believe is one of our highest paid players.......Just imagine how much better we could use that salary under the new regime. Looking forward to listening to part 2 of the Patreon later today. |

Read it again yesterday and it was a magnificent account of the day. |

I hate Man Utd with a passion and have done since the Eric Cantona goal scored at 5.03pm. However at 9/1 I couldn’t resist so I held my nose and parted with my stake money. |

Thanks for the links chaps - Great memories indeed!! Clive - I remember your match report being pretty special too - Is it on archive somewhere it would be a good day to read it again in the Garden with a large G&T. |

Does anyone have a link for the Phil Parry commentary - Would love to hear that again on this very special day? |

Love this Clive - Fantastic read and pretty much spot on with my thoughts. A few brilliant "Clive Classics" in there too which brought a nice smile my favorite being: "Jack Colback gets booked A LOT. There are more cards here than at Lucas Andersen’s gaff on Valentine’s Day." I think it's fair to say Ipswich Town and Jason Dozzell pulled Les's pants down with Andre Dozzell. A very expensive mistake to add to the others. |

We certainly would - Chris Wright had enough and put us into Administration and who can forget those dark days of the ABC loan. Not perfect but they have our best interests at heart (new training ground) and keep writing the cheques to keep the lights on. Also there is not a queue for new investors to help out that's for sure...... |

Bloody expensive hobby owning a football club. I know they have a few bob but this must still be an "ouch" moment everytime they do this. |
| Forum Reply | Marti Contract?? at 10:18 22 May 2024
True - I guess it would at least be nice if he had a contract which means the purchasing club had to compensate QPR for Marti. I think we got close to £1M from Glasgow Rangers for the snake but then spent a lot of that on buying Ainsworth and Dobbo out of their Wycombe contracts - Doh |
| Forum Thread | Marti Contract?? at 08:26 22 May 2024
All this bloody manager merry go round is making me nervous. I know we are not supposed to know contract details any more but does anyone have any idea what the length of Marti's contract might be? Surely it won't be long before he is mentioned as a replacement for another club. |
| Forum Reply | Eze for England! at 21:25 21 May 2024
My guess would be we get a nice chunk of that £4M if he starts for England the rest is probably aligned to him making appearances for Palace as long as they remain in the Premier League which they have. |

Love this Clive - Always great reading and I look forward to listening to the Patreon chat. My only comment is I thought a tad harsh on Kakay maybe a D would be better suited. I fully agree he is not at Championship level and it's right he has been released but he never hid, has always been available, never had those pathetic calf strains that some of the others always seemed to have especially the previous season and always gave 100% which I guess is all we can ask. It seems I spent much of Kakay's career defending him to those around me so I might as well finish with that comment on here too. |

Barron was poor although he did save a penalty at Anfield in The Milk Cup semi final to help give us one of the best away nights ever and Green did have his moment in the sun at Wembley. |
| Forum Reply | End of Term Report 23/24 – Goalkeepers at 09:27 18 May 2024
Thanks Clive - Good read that. My thoughts on Asmir are probably a bit higher I think he has been reasonably steady throughout the season. Yes he has made some mistakes as all goalkeepers do (look at Neuer in the CL semi final) but has always been fit and available and is probably a good egg in the dressing room. He has also made some big saves at key moments. That said if we can shake hands and move on then it would be the right thing to do however I have a sneaky feeling those number of appearances have probably triggered a contract extension. If that is the case then we need to use next season as Asmir handing over the baton to Joe Walsh who has been groomed for the last 3 years for this situation. Walsh the number one with Asmir on the bench ready for any wobbles we might get whilst at the same time bringing on Salamon so he is ready for the following season. Good to see Archer leaving and I would also let Mahoney go if we can to save some funds. For me the best Goalkeeper ever remains Jan Stejskal with Peter Hucker running him close. My Dad would always say Phil Parkes but I don't have enough memory of him on archive in my brain. |
