Whittingham and the rest of the squad returned to training on Monday without the defender. “‘It’s in the hands of the chairman and the manager to see if we can work something out,” Sodje told The News. ‘I think I have unfinished business and would love to come back. I have a young family and it has to be right for me. ‘But it would be a shame if I cannot go back to Portsmouth; it is what I really want. I have got a few things going on right now, there are other offers.’ The defender managed nine appearances in what was a turbulent season for the blues. He ended the season forming a solid partnership with Ricardo Rocha in the centre of defence, one that many fans would like to see again. Sodje added: “This league and English football is about heart and being strong – I know what I can do. ‘I think I have more to offer. I have a reputation and have proven what I can do in the bottom leagues. It can be very tough. ‘I am relaxed about the situation, I believe in myself and put myself under my own pressure to do well.
