Defender admits Pompey's slow start killed them Sunday, 2nd Feb 2014 22:15 by pompey-fans.com staff Daniel Alfei says Pompey's players know they started far too slowly against Torquay - and are determined to put it right at Exeter next week. Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to the Gulls, the on-loan Swansea defender told the club website: 'We didn’t come flying out of the blocks and there was nothing created in the first half. That’s very disappointing and the goal we conceded was very sloppy. It shouldn’t happen at this level. 'So we had to pick ourselves up in the second and I think we did, but just couldn’t put anything away. We dominated the half and if we’d got a goal then I think that would have been deserved. 'But games like this happen sometimes and you have to look ahead to the next one to try to make things right. We’ll be working hard in training next week and hopefully can return to winning ways on the Saturday.' Alfei - despite some recent results - is enjoying his spell at Fratton and said: 'It was an easy decision. I’m enjoying my time and playing regularly so I wanted to stay. I’ve learnt a lot from time here already and I’m sure I can learn a lot more over the next few months.'
