Pompey have pledged to look at the thorny issue of season-ticket prices for young people after comments they are too expansive for those in the age bracket.

But they say they first need to iron out the problem of some claiming to be eligible for young person's rates when they are not.

Speaking to The News about the reaction to the recent season-ticket price announcements, chief executive Mark Catlin said: '‘There have been one or two areas. The 17 to 22 age category is definitely an area we need to look at moving forward.

‘Last year there were quite a few issues of people claiming to be under 17. Once we can ensure that area is not being abused we will look at that category.’

Catlin is pleased with the general response to the announcement of prices for next season and says having more time to work out prices then how to market them has helped.

‘It’s going to be a lot more structured this year. Last week we had a lot of people coming to the ground. Now people can do it online and do it over the phone. There’s a gradual roll-out.

‘Last year I came in and there were queues going up Frogmore Road and beyond. We don’t want huge queues and we have been able to avoid that.’
