Jed Wallace is targeting games not goals as he sets his sights on another successful Pompey season.

The youngster has rejected interest from other clubs to commit his future to Pompey - and said he was happy to stay.

His decision to stay comes as Simon Ferry and John Sullivan are released - the former returning to his native Scotland to join Dundee.

Wallace told the Pompey website: 'There’s obviously been a lot of speculation about whether I’d sign a new deal, so I’m pleased that can all end now. Everyone’s stayed patient with me. I said that I would go on holiday after the season and then make a decision when I came back — that’s exactly what I’ve done.

'Things can be a bit unstable in modern-day football, so I’m pleased to have signed for three years. I’m at a club where I’m wanted and appreciated and that was an important factor for me. I know the manager really well and he was another big reason for why I wanted to stay.

'I’m looking forward to a positive season at Fratton Park and hopefully we can keep everyone happy. I’m sure there is going to be a strong squad at Pompey next season, so I just want to play as many games as I can.

'I set myself a target of 40 games last season and achieved that, so I’ll be looking for something similar this time around.'
