Pompey poke Posh out the cup Tuesday, 12th Aug 2014 23:21 by pompey-fans.com staff Andy Awford said it was about time Pompey had a cup run for their fans to cheer - and now he has the makings of one on his hands. Pompey tasted their first League Cup success for a while when a Miles Storey goal gave them a 1-0 Fratton Park win over Peterborough. Loanee Storey netted after 12 minutes and Pompey never looked back, holding on with some comfort against their higher-league opponents. Craig Westcarr had a goal ruled out in the second half - rather harshly at that, for handball - but it didn't matter as Posh failed to break down the home defence. Boss Awford said: 'It was a great finish by Miles Storey, a great run and he has worked it well across the keeper into the bottom corner. And Craig Westcarr put in a fantastic performance — he was terrific.'
