Robbo blow hits Pompey's preparations
Robbo blow hits Pompey's preparations

Paul Robinson is out for 'weeks not days' with the fractured cheekbone picked up against Luton - and that seems likely to mean a recall for Ben Chorley when Cheltenham visit Fratton on Tuesday evening.

Andy Awford has not said how he will replace Robinson, who has been so impressive in Pompey's improved run of form, but Chorley seems the obvious choice to join Joe Devera and Jack Whatmough in the back three.

Awford told the Pompey website: 'Robbo will obviously miss out — he’s got a fracture of the cheekbone and is seeing a specialist about that. He will have to have surgery and will be out for weeks not days, which is a big blow. He’ll be missed.

'We’ll have to fill that role and the big question is whether we change shape and revert to a back four. We’ve been successful with a three — one defeat in 10 and six clean sheets — and it seems to have suited us.

'There are some things to discuss and there are a few different defensive options for us to have a look at. Everyone’s disappointed to be left out of the team, but this provides an opportunity for someone to step in and prove their worth.'

Pompey head into the game in 13th spot eight points off the play-off zone and have no other new injury worries.
