Skipper Michael Doyle says Pompey must start moving the ball around the Fratton Park pitch faster if they want to rediscover the way to win home games.

He admitted the players were disappointed with a second home draw in a row, the 0-0 stalemate with Accrington which followed the 3-3 draw with Morecambe a fortnight earlier.

Doyle told the club website: 'We are really disappointed with the draw and were lacklustre all over. Perhaps we were a bit too cautious after what happened in the Morecambe game, but we felt we were in a good position at half-time to go on and get the win.

'We just didn’t make things happen, though, and were very sloppy. We looked a bit lethargic. It wasn’t that we didn’t go out there and try to play — it’s just that we didn’t play well enough.

'We’re all frustrated because we wanted to make things happen, but we didn’t do enough to deserve the win. That’s two home games now that — with the high standards we’ve set ourselves — we expected to win and haven’t.

'If we want to break teams down then we have to move the ball quicker and try to force things. There’s still a long way to go before we get to where we want to be because home games should be our bread and butter.'

Pompey are back at the park on Saturday, with 21st-placed Barnet the visitors.
