New striker injury worry for Blues Tuesday, 20th Sep 2016 21:19 by pompey-fans.com staff Noel Hunt is the latest Pompey striker to pick up an injury - but it should not rule him out for long. The former Reading man limped out of the reserves' 4-1 win over Newport County with a groin problem - 10 days after Curtis Main suffered a head injury that forced him off during the win over Wycombe. Coach Ian Foster said of Hunt's injury, which came at the club's training ground: ‘Noel’s experienced and knows his body and felt his groin getting a little bit tight. On one hand, reserve games are great for the lads who are coming back from injury, but on the other hand you can pick up one or two injuries in these games. ‘He will be assessed over the next 24 hours and we will see how that settles down. It was precautionary from Noel. He came over to the bench and said “I feel my groin tightening up” so we whipped him straight off and will see how he settles down. Hopefully, fingers crossed, it won’t be anything too serious.’ Jack Whatmough, Adam Buxton and Brandon Haunstrup were among those to play in today's game following injury. Michael Smith scored twice and Conor Chaplin and Kal Naismith also scored.
