Rose tips Lowe to be vital man for Blues
Sunday, 29th Jan 2017 21:33 by pompey-fans.com staff

Pompey fans will be seeing plenty more of Jamal Lowe as they try to recover from their second loss in three games.

Exeter's 1-0 win at Fratton Park left Pompey in fifth place and four points off a top three spot but Lowe's introduction in the second half did provide fans with a few brighter moments.

The former Hampton and Richmond forward is trying to force his way into the starting line-up and midfielder Danny Rose believes he could become an important player in the coming weeks.

The Blues are under pressure to put the Exeter defeat behind them by getting something at Wycombe next Saturday.

Rose told Pompey's website the Exeter display was not good enough and added: 'The crowd were understandably frustrated because we fell short and didn’t create enough chances.

'Jamal Lowe was a breath of fresh air when he came on, though, and the fans were enthused whenever he got on the ball. I’m sure we’ll see a lot more of him.

'Exeter only had a handful of opportunities themselves and they caught us with a sucker punch. But we’ve bounced back pretty well following disappointing results in the past and that’s what we’ve got to do this time.

'A good majority of this squad have seen success in the past and hopefully those credentials will prove the difference. It will be a hard week of preparations geared towards the Wycombe game and we’re in no doubt that it will be tough.

'I’m sure it will be a physical encounter and we’ve played them twice already this season, so we know what to expect. We need to try to get ourselves back on another run if we want to get closer to the automatic places.'
