Cook is only boss to get top form out of Doyle

Paul Cook was the key factor i Eoin Doyle's loan move to Fratton.

The striker is looking forward to operating for Cook for a third time after joining on loan from Preston until the end of the season.

He told the club website: 'When I heard that the manager was keen on signing me again I jumped at the opportunity. I’ve scored 25 goals a season twice in my career and both times I was playing under him.

'I obviously played alongside Gary Roberts at Chesterfield as well and he was a major contributor of the goals I scored, so hopefully that can happen again. On paper this team is good enough to win promotion and I want to add something to help get us over the line.

'I haven’t watched many Pompey games this season, so I can’t compare myself to the other strikers, but I’ll give nothing less than 100 per cent.'

On a busy deadline day, Pompey also brought in right-back Aaron Simpson on loan from Wolves while defender Adam Buxton had his contract cancelled and Michael Smith and Ben Close were allowed to join Northampton and Eastleigh respectively on loan.
