Scorer says Pompey can be real threat in League One
Sunday, 17th Sep 2017 21:10 by pompey-fans.com staff

Jamal Lowe helped Pompey to their biggest win of the season so far, scoring two second-half goals in the 4-1 thumping of Fleetwood at Fratton Park.

And afterwards he backed the Blues to be a 'real threat' in League One if they keep taking their chances in the same manner.

Brett Pitman was also on target twice - like Lowe, he scored one header and conjured up one other superb finish - to make sure the Cod Army were reeled in.

Lowe said it was great to see Pompey in clinical mood, telling the media: 'It’s the first goal with my head since I was about eight-years-old, so I’m buzzing with that. I’ve had two really good chances in the past and managed to fluff them both, so it’s something I’ve been working on in training.

'It’s nice that it’s finally worked out on the pitch and helped to secure an important result for us. I thought my touch was a bit heavy for the second and the goalkeeper’s taken a gamble on me pulling the ball back.

'He took a step out and that opened up some space at the near post, so I knew that if I hit it high he couldn’t save it. I should have had a hat-trick really and was frustrated that I couldn’t quite manage that, but I’m sure it will happen on another day.

'There have been chances inside the box in recent weeks — including for me — and we've not really taken them. We create a lot as a team, so know that if we can keep putting them away, then we’ll be a real threat in this division.'

Pompey go to sixth-placed Scunthopre next Saturday before hosting Bristol Rovers the following Tuesday.
