Why do we have 2 goal keepers as coaches?

Im sorry but a goalkeeper hasnt played outfield therefore will not have as much an idea as outfield players on how to coach and prepare etc.

How can a fat chelsea reserve goal keeper exepct to teach young athletic footballers' on formations, things that happen on the field of play, when all he did was sit on the bench for 10 years??

I know they will have knowledge on coaching and i also know that some of the best coaches never played the game at a decent level but It just dont sit comfortable with me that 2 goalkeepers are teaching strikers what runs to make and midfielders how to pass etc.

they were fine as coaches at Man City, Fulham, Blackburn etc. It's like saying a striker can't coach people how to defend

Sadly your point is somewhat undermined by the success of Mourinho, Wenger, Moyes and others who weren't great players - or players at all - but have proved to be fantastic managers. The idea that you had to spend 15 years rolling round in the mud before you could be a football manager is the reason no-hopers like Peter Reid and Brian Robson kept getting managerial jobs and is now, thankfully, on life support if not dead already.

Ok the point I am making is that we need specialist coaches, like a defender who can teach our useless back 4 how to defend and a striker who can teach our non scoring forwards what runs to make.
The 2 fat goalies do neither well.

I am sure Mourinho and Wenger have others who do specialist jobs (though Wenger struggles with defences a bit) he's brought in Steve Bould for example. The manager is one thing actual coaches working under him is another. Maybe they aren't as good or others have over taken them, certainly sime of our signings were a bit off the boil.
Bringing in Green and then another Keeper weeks later an example of wasting money and stupidity and thats in a position where we have 2 fckng coaches

i would assume they have both done coaching courses so have developed ideas and skills to be able to coach all the players, I think it's harsh to call them two fat goalies.

MAybe so Dave, I am probably looking into Hughes failure a little too deep.
