"The Chilean (Vargas) surrendered possession due to a loose touch more than any other player on the pitch (three) and his inability to hold up the ball always seemed likely to be an issue..."
What utter, utter bollocks.Did you actually see the game comrade?

A fair question Blob. I know we all see games differently but this guy is just plain wrong.

There are plenty of good reasons to hate the Guardian. One or two to like them.

Vargas does give the ball away a lot but usually when he is trying something that could actually lead to breaking down the defence. His "give it away cheaply" to "breath taking bit of genius" ratio wasn't up to scratch on Monday night. In Guardian journalistic terms that means he's useless and it's the dirty Tory's or Israel's fault.

Well, Vargas did not have one of his better games and his touch did let him down a couple of times (shocking) and that's sufficient reason to have a pop at the Guardian aint it like?

Personally prefer his conclusion which is very much mine and many others view namely "Their defence has looked more solid than it did at the start of the campaign, but if QPR are to stay up they will do so by outscoring their rivals. Redknapp isn’t the first manager to try to shut teams out on the road but he should stick to what suits his players best. Given the stark difference between their points tallies at home and away, that is clearly to play with a more offensive approach".

Those last ten words say it all.

And don't ell me that we did at Everton. We didn't. Apart from the first few minutes and a changed formation.

I thought we were talking about Vargas and the Guardian scribe........

I prefer not to mention Joe Merseyside who we all know can only pass backwards, sideways and to the oppo when he's not giving away stoopid free kicks.

We are in agreement with the scribe's conclusion though, are we not?

In your desperation to have a pop at the Guardian you seem to have missed the fact that it's a whoscored.com article that happens to have been posted on the Guardian. Also, it's hard to argue with much of what the article actually says.

Every time Vargas moves into central midfield we come alive. I think the guy is a natural central playmaker with some goals in him. He certainly has the best eye for a pass I have seen since Faurlin.

Never knowingly right.

The Guardian is not left wing my friend, Keynesian in it's approach maybe, but not communist, or even socialist I would argue, it's just not as right wing as other newspapers. I'm a big fan of Ben Goldacre who occasionally graces us with his critical analysis of nonsense written about science in the news, including the paper he writes for. No no no, The Morning Star is the only left wing publication nationally, usually insightful if not a little lightweight. As it happens, I thought Barton had an absolute shocker on Monday, and I don't agree that the fault lay at the feet of Vargas, although everything else said in the Guardian article seemed pretty accurate to me. By the way, I'm not too sure Barton is 'a leftie' either. Not in the traditional sense of the word.

Left wing indeed, but I forgive you, we oppressed must stick together.
