We Just Dont Get Enough From Our Strikers
at 18:13 29 Mar 2024

I have to say totally agree with OP. Look at Bacuna today, he was in my opinion the best player on the pitch along with our Jimmy. Held the ball up, looked to create chances and looked to score.

If you were disappointed with our score today . . . .

I took my two grandsons to Ipswich today and my god Sheffield Wednesday were so, so, bad. They completely gave up just after half time. Ipswich were good but not outstanding but were far too good for them. They must go down with Rotherham so one place up for grabs.

at 15:36 8 Mar 2024

We have/had a run of tough games in a short space of time - Leicester, West Brom, Boro and Sunderland away. Now that we have added to the squad with a bit more quality and the injury problems we have had in the past appear to have been resolved Marti has been very smart in resting players but as already mentioned Chair has not been rested and must be worn out. He always puts in a shift no matter how well or not he plays. The court case must be on his mind so, for me, hats off to the lad. Well done son.

Best player I have ever watched play, a maverick and a bit of a rogue but without doubt a true QPR legend. Totally loved the man and thank you Stan for all those wonderful memories. RIP.

Marathon Walk
at 13:58 20 Feb 2024

Happy to make a contribution.

I did the Shine walk a few years ago to raise money for cancer research after my sister passed away with kidney cancer. Have to say great atmosphere and support from other walkers.

Can I please give you a few of tips:
Make sure you get some miles in before you do the walk.
Walking a marathon is almost more difficult than running as you will be on your feet for so much longer (took us close on 9.5 hours).
Please ensure you wear decent walking trainers that you have used to do the miles prior to the walk.
Wear decent walking socks, smother your feet with vaseline before putting on your socks and DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES take off your footwear before you have completed the walk.

I wish you the best of luck.

Sorry if I have missed something but has this bloke signed for us or are we still awaiting his work permit? If still waiting it is taking a long time?

Twenty-five years ago I took a boys team from under 7 to under 16's. We had a decent team especially in the early years winning the league three seasons in a row along with winning cup competitions. Then at under 12 we lost three boy's who were picked up by pro clubs and did not allow them to play Sunday league football.

Whilst I admit I was not a great coach I was assisted by two parents who played the game at quite a high level and think overall at that time we assisted the boys the best we could given our circumstances. Don't forget at that time small boys played on full size pitches which was a joke. As a manager I made it very clear right from the start no parent will make any remarks about a players performance and any negative comments would not be tolerated under any circumstances. I have to say in all the years I managed the team we NEVER once had any problems with the parents.

Fast forward to now - my 7 year old grandson (only just 7) is showing signs of being a tidy player and obviously I watch him as often as I am able. The whole youth football has changed and is a million miles away from where it was all those years ago. He has played against the Ipswich, Spurs, Palace and Brentford academy teams at their training grounds (facilities are unbelievable) and the way the boys are coached is impressive. However, the pressure on the boys is off the scale and the parents are almost out of control. Because their little lad has been picked up by a pro club they think they are something else.

When playing against these academy teams it is the big, strong, athletic boys who stand out and are coached to use their speed, strength to bully boys who are smaller than themselves. Our team are coached to play out from the back, get the ball look up and look for a pass, make space for themselves and play for each other - I have not seen that in the pro-team academy sides. Spurs had twenty-four boys who train two/three times a week - at 7 years old?? My grandson has homework to do along with other activities.

Good luck with your son's team and hope he does well.

As many people have already said the game yesterday was god awful, we look like a pub team with zero creativity apart from the odd moment from Chair. Everything was down our left hand side to try and give Chair a chance to make an impact on the game. However, when it did get played out on the right and Willock was on the ball we did look like creating something. Whilst I accept he does not look fully fit and is protecting himself I would have introduced Smith earlier and moved Willock into a more central role where he can link up with Chair etc. Dykes did nothing and he is no more a midfield player than he is a striker.

Listened to him on a Sky interview this morning saying he was "wounded" by the Rangers job. It was all about him not one consideration to the people he "wounded" at our club, staff, players and of course us, the fans. Ignorant and arrogant who finks and fought he is better than he is - crash and burn mate, crash and burn.

Marti Cifuentes x Taylor Richards
at 12:56 2 Dec 2023

Surly Taylor can see what a good manager Marti is and how he has already improved individual players and the team. He clearly has issues and it is great shame for him and the club. Am I dreaming- I thought at the beginning of the season he was on the QPR site saying how he had now got himself ready, loved the club and would run though brick walls to repay the club for standing by him in his dark days?

Football is quite a simple game - you score more goals than the other team and you win - simple. So how the hell did we think at the beginning of the season we would score enough goals to win games? Dykes - tries but hardly scores. Smyth - tries but hardly scores. Armstrong - tries hard but hopeless in front of goal. Kelman - does he actually exist??

Obviously we are restricted but money but our four forwards have no more than 12 goals a season between them!!! All that and with a defence that leaks goals for fun.

Midfield players chipping in with goals - who????

Sorry but am I missing something here? There are many people on this site that have or still employ people, myself included. When employing someone you give them a contract of employment which is designed to protect both parties.

If a person is unable to work due to being unwell either physically or mentally then you would ask that person to go to a doctor and get a note stating that he or she is not fit to work. After a set amount of time their salary would drop down and they would be entitled to SSP with the employer making a contribution. So why the hell are we still paying him (and we have no idea if we are) his full salary?

I accept and understand that football is different in so much that a player might be unable to work if he is injured whilst playing but he has hardly kicked a ball. I would expect to have regular meetings with someone who is on long term sick and try and put a plan into operation which assists him back to work.

Are you telling me that other people employed by the club on a lower level has that amount of time off work and still gets full pay? If so I wonder if they have any vacancies. I do understand and have sympathy for anyone who is unable to work for whatever reason but being seen out shopping with your mates does not exactly give the right signals.

Summer Transfer Rumours
at 17:15 3 Aug 2023

Was wondering Clive on your view on this? - lots of stuff reported in the press recently in connection to the Saudi Pro League offering stupid money to anyone and everyone the feeling is that it is only a matter of time before the whole FFP debacle is kicked into touch.

So perhaps all we need to do is hang on in for this coming season and all this can't spend any money goes away. Obviously then it is up to the owners how much of their money they wish to spend/invest.

what schools did you attend.
at 19:11 28 Jun 2023

Being out of town you would not know the schools I attended but when I was at school:-

95% of the pupils were not from single parent families - think it is the opposite now.

No one was a vegetarian.

No one even knew what a vegan was.

No one was gluten intolerant.

No one had a nut allergy.

No one had mental health issues apart from one lad who was known as 'Looney'. He was not bullied, in fact the complete opposite we all looked out for him and if anyone stepped over the line they were felt with pronto.

Any problems between pupils were felt with in a fist fight and afterwards all was good.

We all got the cane, slipper more ruler and just took it as being the way things were, moan about it to your dad when you got home and was told you had deserved it.

No one ever did any homework, no one at our school went to university and yet we all have made a living.

Oh how times have changed - for the better??

RIP Tina Turner

This lady was amazing, her life journey was incredible and in part heart breaking. So glad she found someone in her later years who treated her as all women should be treated.

Booked up some months ago to go to see her show in London and that is today - could be very emotional for everyone involved.

RIP Tina - you were 'Simply the Best'.

This is going to be very tight and the points we gained earlier in the season might, just might get us over the line. BUT looking at the form of the other teams around us they are picking up points and we are not.

Huddersfield 5 points out of the last possible 24
Wigan 8 points out of the last possible 24
Blackpool 6 points out of the last possible 24
Cardiff 9 points out of the last possible 24
Birmingham 7 points out of the last possible 24
Rotherham 10 points out of the last possible 24
and
QPR 2 points out of the last possible 24

This is not looking good, the games against Blackpool, Wigan and Birmingham will define out=r season I feel.

Glass-Salter Injured Again
at 13:58 13 Feb 2023

Sorry if I am missing something here - a few weeks ago I listened to an interview with Andy Belk, I found it quite informative and was impressed with amount of work that goes on in the background prior to signing a player. Why is it then then that we have so many players who are always bloody injured?? Not just Class-Salter, Roberts, Richards and others who are not much better.

Getting older
at 15:23 12 Feb 2023

Said before I thought this was an interesting post and has been a good read. I find it quite sad that within a few years there will be no one still alive who lived through the second world war, my mum, even though her short term memory is zero can still remember and talk about being evacuated and having virtually no schooling for the most important years of her life.

People like my parents and in laws were luck to own their houses and honestly thought they would go out of the door feet first, no thought whatsoever about not being unable to live on their own when one was left on their own. Obviously, years ago people did not live well into their 90's and not sure I really remember care homes or assisted living places that are available now.

Having experience and witnessing this first hand I am now starting to plan ahead, things like getting our POA in place, looking to downside our house, do we need two cars, etc etc. My mum lives in a beautiful McCarthy & Stone one bed flat, she is safe and help is on tap should it be required. The downside is it is very, very expensive. Loftboy has already mentioned on this thread the costs involved and my in-laws spent close of £200,000 on care home fees which was only affordable by the sale of their home.

Can I please just beg any of our older friends who post on this site that if you ever consider taking out an Equity Release on your property please, please rethink and don't do it.
