6:17 is comedy gold ... I will never get bored of watching that clip. Spot on re 1986! The trouble is any chels fans under the age of 30 will only have experienced the 'lets spend a load of money, rack up a huge debt, but win loads of trophies in the process' business model. Year upon year of competing for everything! To them a bad season would have been finishing runners up in the League and maybe only getting 1 piece of silverware. The thought of finishing mid-table would have been unthinkable 2-3 seasons ago, but slowly the wheels have started to wobble an its lovely to see the fans reactions... Selling the 2 hotels is proof that they're in trouble re FFP and if it is to be no European footy next season, they wont be able to throw another truck load of money at it ... Happy Days!
We all knew when this season kicked that unless we got a 'Wells n Hugill' type loan deal we were never going to get more than a handful of goals from the permanent strikers.... inevitable thread... surprised it took so long to surface.
agree but... is this squad that much different to previous ones (last 5-6 years)... When brolly man was in charge we looked terrible at the start of the season so we went and loaned Wells and Hugill for the season and became okay from that point onwards... Put a couple of above average Championship strikers in that team for most of the season and we'd be comfortably mid-table ... that is the difference between struggling and being comfortable in this division.
I'm already resigned to losing Marti in the summer ... Palace or Everton or a similarly placed team will lure him to the Prem :( ... thanks Marti, it was great while it lasted!
