Random Rs Moments
at 12:27 28 Apr 2024

Yesterday I was walking around Málaga in my Rs walk on top. In the restaurant where we went for lunch some guy says "4-0 last night". Turns out they were a family from Belgium who had been at the Preston game the week before and totally loved the experience. Loved the atmosphere at LR. Showed me their photos with all the players etc.

When I left the restaurant the son shouted U Rs. It was a lovely moment to follow up Friday night.

Sure it's been done before but I'd love to hear some other random Rs Moments....

Waking up Safe
at 06:49 27 Apr 2024

What a great feeling. Feels like we won something yesterday. Maybe it wasn't a trophy or promotion, but it was about more than just survival. It was about our identity and our future. We didn't just scrape across the line, or depend on someone else being shite, we dominated a big club, with a massive budget, another full house with LR rocking, under the lights, live on TV.

The turnaround has been remarkable. Marti has given a management masterclass off the pitch and is getting better and better on the pitch as he works out the Championship. His vision is clear, he communicates his message eloquently - hard work, defensive organisation, attacking style, desire to win,, togetherness, humility.

A few months ago I feared for the future of the club, from top to bottom. Everything just seemed rotten. Now I feel proud, hopeful and excited for the future.

It has been a wild ride but this has been one of the seasons I have felt most connected to the club and the fellow supporters. LFWs is a massive part of that so thank you Clive and everyone here.

My children both asked me when we can go to see another live match, yesterday they both came to watch the match on TV and enjoyed it. They both were talking with pride about "their" team and wanting new kits. Before Christmas they had totally lost interest and made jokes about QPR always losing. Hopefully there are loads of kids in West London and around the world who also fell in love with QPR this season and next year they can build that connection.

The Rs are staying up, I'm off to see Fat Boy Slim tonight in Malaga and life feels pretty damn good today.

I wouldn't choose it this way but I have been totally gripped by this season. Every match has had jeopardy for ages. The team has been getting better and better. The players brought in mid season were way better that seemed possible. Marti is humble and ambitious and really professional.
Cook, JCS, Field, Chair, Dunne have been very good.
Dykes and Begovic came good right at the end when we needed them.
Fans have been amazing - 5th highest % full stadium in the league.
Loft for Words has been as entertaining as ever and absolutely brilliant over the last few weeks.

The Rs are staying up.....

And it's high ho silver lining......

Thank you Marti Cifuentes.

Marti just seems like a good fit for us. It's early days and what he's achieved should be commended. I feel like he has learnt a lot about the Championship in a short amount of time.

But I would love him to stay for 4-5 years and really build a team in his Image. He is humble AND ambitious. He has that Catalan philosophy of offensive football, quality in possession, ruthless desire to win always.

He brings the fans along with him and has got Loftus Road full and bouncing when it could have been half empty.

I just feel like there is the potential for him to go on to be a real QPR legend and build a legacy. I hope he sees it that way, he enjoys living in the capital with easy connections to Barcelona. I would love it if he had some real success with us that then got him his dream job. Actually I'd love to know what that job would be......perhaps success at a Prem team and then the top joh at Barcelona.....

The centre back pairing has been huge in our Recovery
at 06:14 21 Apr 2024

Cook was just the right kind of signing we needed and you could tell from when he first arrived. A leader on the pitch, good on the ball, brave, experienced. I thought that injuries would be his only problem for us. He has, however put together a great run of consecutive performances and consistently good performances that would have him as my POTY.

JCS has been brilliant since staying injury free and getting a run of games. I love the way he reads the game and uses his body to shield the ball. Again...good distribution and generally a great attitude. I am sure Cook's influence on him has been important. Totally agree with OP that our CBs are massive reason why we have recovered.

The Dunne to RB has also been the discovery/ managerial masterstroke of the season. Has sorted out our defence from set pieces, added threat to attack in the box and surprisingly good on the ball.. Before that we were hemorrhaging goals. Kakay was meant to be replaced by Cannon and I think he could be OK in certain formations and in the squad but came into a mess and wasn't the solution. Paal has put in a lot of work and has been consistent. I think he has been OK. Defensively he can be exposed but is mostly trustworthy, has a good attitude, occasionally crosses well and links nicely with Chair. I would like more end product going forward. Set pieces weren't great.

Field the Shield, removing Dozzell and Kayay, Colbeck's industry when available and adding Hayden for the run in were all massive helpful in the defence too.

Marti has made us hard to beat with a much tougher and more competitive attitude. Hopefully he can add some quality in attack as that will also really ease the pressure on the defence. When you score so few goals all defensive errors are highlighted.

Good save today but poor distribution and quite a few mistakes this season mean we could do better for the % of our budget that he is taking. No sell on value either.

Has been a decent pro off the field by all accounts and that has been helpful too. Not sure about the captain status as I don't see him as inspiring/ leading on the pitch.

I think he has become a bit of an easy target for some fans (and opposition strikers) with his Chelsea links and blunders at crucial times.

Hoping for an early goal and 2-0 with Loftus Road rocking.

Fearing conceding early and trying to get level, conceding on the break and getting beat 0-2.

Come on you Rs. Could draw a line in the sand today.

If you look at their second it's the pass from Dykes that is behind Willock and forces him to check his run. It's a 3m pass with no pressure and is inexcusable. It's only a small detail but it stopped us going forward and then we were caught out.

Why is Marti keeping Dykes on. How bad does he have to be?

We started well and then their goal just removed all pressure.

After that we were total shite. System was a mess. No out ball. No threat at all really. No width. No crosses. No chances.

Marti has to take some of the blame for such a poor formation and not reacting during the half.

Desperately need some pace up top.

This is thoroughly depressing.

This will sound like digging out but in the build up we had played it out of defence and Dykes came back to take a touch and put it behind Willock so he had to check his run. He gets dispossessed and the rest is history. Just a detail but there is absolutely nothing sticking up top and 4 CBs so no width either on a big pitch.

Aaaaaaargh
