| Forum Reply | Players we should have kept at 11:46 10 May 2024
Gorkss, Connolly, Smith etc. Players from the Championship winning team who bonded so well together, but had to make way for the mercenaries. We would have been better off keeping a close-knit squad together, come what may. But the new owners wanted to play real-life fantasy football instead. |

Other than what's been recommended already. Go beyond Sausalito to a redwood forest, just to experience seeing sequoia trees in real life. Go to a baseball match, either the Giants or the Oakland A's. If you have a day to spare, go north to Napa or Sonoma and visit a winery or two. The restaurants are great there too. Enjoy the trip. |

A young man is banished to the outer-wasteland called Right-Back. He encounters new challenges as he fights for his tribe's survival, discovering talents and abilities that were there all along but he never knew he had. Dunne. |

Thanks Clive for your dedication to this website. It's clearly a vocation and is a support to all of us as we navigate a chart through the peaks and troughs of a typical season, while trying to maintain some semblance of sanity. Looking forward, I can't help but wonder how few of those who played on Saturday might be playing for us next season. Some are out of contract/loan players, some need to be moved on, and a few should be high on the target list for other clubs over the summer. QPR: Walsh 8; Cannon 5, Cook 7, Fox 7, Paal 6 (Smyth 89, -); Hayden 6 (Field 62, 6), Dixon-Bonner 7 (Armstrong 81, -); Willock 7 (Colback 62, 6), Andersen 7 (Adomah 62, 6), Chair 8; Dykes 6 |

Jim Gregory normally came out the right side of transfer deals, unlike most of those who followed him. West Ham had to pay a world record fee for a goalkeeper at the time, and Parkes only had a handful of caps. The sale of Allen and Goddard also allowed the club to build a new stand. Allen, as we all know, returned to the club soon afterwards, although I never found out how much we paid Palace for him. |

That's a nice gesture, albeit one at 9.00am. I'd say a lot of clubs would be very happy to sign him this summer. I'd ask which of those current or ex-players would your conscience allow you to accept a pint from? That should narrow down the list of in-scope players considerably. [Post edited 2 May 14:16]

The semi final, per their world rankings, is: 29th vs 44th; 12th vs 31st This reminds me of when Greece won the Euros in 2004 and the bookies won all the bets placed before the tournament started. |

Ronnie, Trump and Allen all got knocked out in the quarter finals. This has been a crazy few days in Sheffield. |

I think it was when Nigel Spackman got the sack and several people submitted posts thinking it was the first time the news was being shared with the readers of the message board. It doesn't happen too regularly these days. |
| Forum Reply | Are we capable of going up next season. at 07:53 30 Apr 2024
Dream on, but no we're not. We were very lucky this season that key players all avoided injury on a squad with very little depth of talent. That is unusual and it may not happen again. As alluded to already, we need to resolve concerns in the front line and in goal. We will probably lose some of our better players over the summer. The teams competing for promotion will include those benefitting from parachute payments, which gives them a massive competitive advantage. A top half finish would be tremendous, but optimistic. |
| Forum Reply | Anyone else bored now? at 10:13 28 Apr 2024
It's not boredom, it's blood pressure easing, stress reducing relief! We'll now lift up our heads up from our phones, realise that Spring has finally arrived, then find things that need to be done around the house that should have been done ages ago. Those tasks will be undertaken in a good mood. |

Attacking did not weary them, nor did Gareth condemn. At the possible going down of the club, and in the mourning. We will remember them. |

I'd say it was a re-run of Bottom. |

Derry are progressing nicely in the football and will throw down the gauntlet to Dublin and Kerry this year. They won the League final in a thriller against Dublin and there was nothing to choose between them on the pitch. Derry have more scope to improve than Dublin. As to the hurling, you want to look past Limerick but you can't. No matter what challenge is put to them, they always find the answers and come out on top by the end. Clare should have held onto their lead against them yesterday, but didn't. Limerick keep finding a way to win and you just have to admire that. |

Many wingers dazzle with the ball at their feet. They can effortlessly glide past tackles and catch the eye as a result. It seems to me that very few can regularly deliver an end product. Millar just joins an ever lengthening queue of wingers I have seen who can't deliver a damaging pass or score when given the opportunity. |
