Is this site/forum doing one? I enjoy these. Would be amusing on this occasion too.

Before recent times, have we both shared players before?

I know you had McClare years ago, and a few others who I can't think of right now.

Add Lee Crooks, Kevin Donovan, Leo Bertos, Chris Shuker too...

And Andy Duggan from the 80s, had to check that as I thought he came from Barnsley. Which he did.

I apologize for Crooks, Bertos and especially Donovan.

Two of those pinched a living at Oakwell.

Shuker was special for us in the main, helped us to promotion, but definitely a lower league lad even at his best. Also rivalled me for biggest forehead in Barnsley.

Sir Geoffrey must be spinning in his grave at the news today about who the greatest living Yorkshireman apparently is.

Nobody in Barnsley likes him. Well, maybe his family like him but I bet even they find him annoying.

He's a Rotherham man. We did go to the same school though.

You'll find one in Saturday's TVOS, Whitey.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Dickie (or Harold to his mates) is actually a family friend. Wonderful bloke. Still a season ticket holder. Cries a lot though.

No wonder after buying a season ticket to watch Barnsley.
Is he crying for
A, being a Yorkshire man he had to spend some money.
B he has to watch, a not very good team.

I don't think Skinner Normanton ever played for Dale.

However Phil Chambers certainly did on loan in about 1984. A very competent left back whio played several thousand games for Barnsley before his loan.

I remember him being pretty decent for us, and was sorry he didn't sign permanently.

He was quality, by all accounts. Dad spoke highly of him. And of the bits I've seen on video etc, he was certainly better than Tom Kennedy, But then, so was his brother Nigel who played violin.

Rating that lot, out of ten (for Dale):

AINSCOW Alan 5
ATKINSON Robert 5
BERTOS Leo 6
BOGDANOVIC Daniel 4
BONNELL Arnold 10, great name
BRYSON Ian 3
BURKE Peter 1, sounds like he was rubbish
BUTTON, David, didn't actually play but warmed the bench well
CHAMBERS Phil 6
CROOKS Lee 6
DAGNALL Chris 9
DAWSON Stephen 8
DICKINSON Liam 4
DONE Matty 8
DONOVAN Kevin 3
DOWNES Bobby 0 for not getting the job ahead of Docherty
DUGGAN Andy 5
DUNGWORTH John, thinking I remember him, but he's probably from the 50s
ETUHU Kelvin 7
GALLIMORE Tony 4 at LB, 7 at CH
GOODISON Wayne 6.5. Go in a shop for right backs and a Wayne Goodison is the version they've hundreds of
HAMSTEAD George 1928? He was probably out of position a lot
HIGGINBOTHAM Kallum 7
JONES Gary 8
JONES Ritchie 1
KENNEDY Tom 8
LUCAS David 6
MALCOLM Paul 6 or maybe 5. Not sure why, but I recall him being quite well liked
McCLARE Sean 3. He was terrible even though he rarely wasted a pass. But neither does a mascot.
McCOURT Patrick 10. Or 2.
McHALE Ray 5
O'GRADY Chris 10
PARKER Derrick 5, scored at Wimbledon when they were massive.
PEARCE Chris 6
PERKINS David 8
REDFEARN Neil 5, but 8 when it mattered.
RICHARDS Marc 7
RIMMER Stuart 2. People were clamouring for Paul Williams to return
SEAL Jimmy, feel I know him, but before my time
SHUKER Chris 5. Complete letdown of a signing. Buckley's management summed up in a player.
THOMAS Geoff 6. 10 for that miss v France.
WATSON Don, probably in an American crime drama
WHALEY Simon, 7. But you felt we never really needed him.
WHYKE Peter, nah, he doesn't really exist
WILLIAMS Robbie 7. He was a surprising success when he really shouldn't have been.
WILLIAMSON Bobby, I'm thinking of a Rotherham striker. Circa 1988.
