Watching the BBC 6 o'clock news on Wednesday it was reporting that rape crime involving knifes had gone up over the reported year period. Reported rape had gone over the 22,000 mark but the emphasis on the news item was rape using knives.
It gave two knife rape examples, one being a group of 3 Asian men from Rochdale, the other a single white lad from Barnsley. Considering the number of places in the UK the BBC could have taken examples from they chose Rochdale. The BBC is non- "political" and shouldn't be seen to blacken a town's name like this. We have had enough of our town being called. Go and pick on someone else.
THE gang rape scandal happened in Heywood, but they said it was Rochdale. Lee Rigby, the soldier murdered by extremists, was reported to come from Middleton. In the same way, to be consistent, he was from Rochdale. Doing Rochdale down all the time. Simon Danczuk should be having a right go at the BBC affecting the image of the town. |  |

Agree OP. I've made it very plain before that I loathe the BBC for this and other reasons.
The fact I have to pay to help produce ridiculous programmes like the attempted (but failed) hatchet job on Farage t'other day, makes my blood boil.
And to put the cherry on the cake, when they were running their story on Ched Evans returning to Sheff Utd. they showed him scoring a goal. Yep, you've guessed it, at Spotland against Dale! |  |

Agreed. It's outrageous how the London based media take every opportunity to paint Rochdale in a negative light.
