Good to see investigations have begun. Presumably this will lead to a further statement which also includes an update for supporters around the decision making with regards to stewarding and policing of fixtures and not only focusing on the behaviour of members of the crowd (which is still correct of course, but only part of doing “our utmost to ensure incidents like this do not happen again.”)
Can the Trust confirm that they will be following this up again, if required, so that we can get a better insight into how this situation developed and what changes will be made in the future to ensure incidents like this do not happen again*?
*especially as though incidents like this have already happened again this season. |

You’d hope that by then we’ll have identified what went wrong/could be done better and everyone will have a better understanding of the problems faced on a matchday, but yes it’s an opportunity for the club to reassure fans that they’ve recognised areas for improvement. | |

I note we play Donny Rovers on New Years Day. I think both clubs should be pro-active to make sure schooligans and adults who should know better don't cause trouble. I'm pretty sure it was the Doncaster home game earlier this season when there was trouble, which was apparently because the idiots caused bovva at their 'gaff last season. Bradford fan here, who always enjoys friendly chat with Dale supporters before and after game in Cemetery pub.
Sorry about our fans with the flares. Flares are a complete no-no for most of us due to the terrible fire. The morons who set them off were shouted down by those around them. Police inside ground would have easily nabbed those responsible. Happily that is a rare event for us so shame on those of us who broke the taboo.
Interesting comments about ticketing. I arrived at turnstile at 2.40pm but only got in at 3.05 due to few turnstiles open and selling pay on the gate at each one.
Why have "reserved seating" and then be told by stewards "sit where you can".
We always bring about 2,000 fans to Dale. 1800 are decent but we also always bring about 200 oiks. A few coppers might have stopped those unpleasant scenes in the far corner.
Your fan who made the comment about the first 5-6 seats being netted made sense. It didn't need a genius to know a Christmas fixture away to a nearby club when your team is on the up was always going to attract a bumper following from us.
As for the game - well we were truly awful for 3 months (as your supporters who saw you win easily at our ground will confirm) but we've finally got our club back. Up the Dale! | | | |
