It isn’t the same though and we’ve covered this. We have achieved half decent results playing a brand of football that mixes up the play effectively. When we play without tempo and players who look to carry the ball forward (Hayes) we then look ponderous and very, very average. At best.
This isn’t about the tactics, it’s about personnel and how we utilise what we have during a game. |  |

We look ponderous against better sides who can defend.
Our players look absolutely knackered.
Gateshead's quality with good loanees from clubs up the hierarchy blended with younger local players looks like a winning formula.
We have made some good signings but not good enough to push into play off contention.

I can only hope they had decided not to bother with this competition, but getting drubbed at home after 2 decent wins is poor. .
