Have been reading about Blackburn Rovers' attempts at engaging local ethnic minority youngsters by way of operating 'The Ewood Express' (bus) on ocassional match days. Apparently a huge success....£8 per ticket including return transport and match ticket.....just a thought!!

The club tried to run a match bus from Middleton about 20 years ago if I remember correctly, it didn’t last long.

Was that the infamous 'Middleton Marauder'? With all due respect, circa 2000 was the Man Utd golden years with Middleton being an M24 postcode. If community is going to be the foundation on which we rebuild our beloved club then we surely need to look at the demographics of the town. Census 2021 (97% response) indicates that the population of Rochdale was 223,773 (74% White / 19% Asian / 4% Black / 2% Mixed / 2% Other). This equates to 26% of Rochdale residents being from a BME (Black Minority Ethnic) background which in itself equates to 58,180 people / prospective new fans. Historically, this particular section of Rochdales' diverse and multi- cultural community has been hard to tap into in terms of a fanbase. Census 2021 indicates that Rochdales' BME community feels like they don't have BME role models to aspire to in their own community. If the club had player/s representing the towns' Asian community then I am pretty sure that we could be on to a winner!! Zesh Rehman (Fulham) / Samir Nabi (Kidderminster Harriers) / Rahis Nabi (Alvechurch) and Tabish Hussain (Guiseley) all came through their respective clubs academies and have represented Pakistan at international level......so why not Dale?? ;)

Absolutely - the Dale Community Sports Trust's Community Cohesion Officer post of 2018/9 was a great initiative - would be good to see a repeat.

Poll: What sort of Club do we want - if we can't have the status quo

The Community Trust have organized recent events at the COA surrounding Ramadan (10th March - 9th April) in conjunction with Rochdale Council of Mosques (x17 mosques). Rochdale inter- mosque football tournament (via Youth Connections) had x24 teams playing last June. Eid Al-Fitr 2024 is 9th / 10th April which correlates with our Tuesday night home fixture v Boreham Wood. Why not boost the crowd for that particular evening with reduced / free tickets for the aforementioned organisations?
......EAF @ COA....the potential is there for all to see!! ;)

A different audience to the comments in the thread but Motability Foundation was offering transport/research grants I think. Fairly sure one of the priorities was social contact/inclusion for people with disabilities. Would need a local, community transport type of partner to apply and would probably need to be a slightly bigger piece of work, maybe looking at barriers to access to local sports venues. Something like that.

Going from memory mind with the above.
