Not a dig at Key in any way but I agree with you there. |
Naughton is positionally sound, can spot a long ball to put Ronald away and very rarely bombs forward. Ronald doesn’t really need to protect him and can pretty much just play to his own strengths and attack.
Key has much more attacking instinct and would probably suit a more Routledge type winger who will look for his overlapping runs and drop in to cover him defensively.
Having said that, with everyone fit, you have to play Key and Ronald. They were starting to gain an attacking understanding towards the end of the season with Ronald playing Key into great positions a few times. His season was pretty stop start and Naughton is good cover when he’s injured. | | | |

Leeds been brilliant fair play, playing with so much pace and moving the ball at speed with no one dwelling on the ball, nice and sharp intelligent football.

Must admit, Eighteen months ago I thought he was on the way out. Should have known better than to judge a defender based on Russy's coaching, but that's on me.
Was basically flawless after coming into the team last season until he got injured. Probably fitter than most of the players younger than him. If he plays 20-30 games next season we could do a lot, lot worse. |  |

When they play together I sense that that they're not really in tune with each others play , a few times a few words seem to have been exchanged because either Ronald made the run only to see Keys pass side ways Naughton due to his experience seems to link up better ,IMO of course. | |

Naughton is a smart, smart footballer. Always has been.
Given that it's probably not all that much of a surprise to see him adapt to Ronald in much the same way as he did to basically anyone else who has played ahead of him on the right.
Key is a fine player and he'll continue to do well for us, but there's still room for learning there. Fortunately he has an excellent role model to help him do just that. | |

I watched an interview with Duff last night at HTFC. He kept playing until he was 38. Naughton is only 35. Another multimillionaire. It would be nice if helped the club out an agreed a low wage deal. The club needs to bring average wages down.
On the other other hand the u21 are not ready like Joe Thomas. Perhaps he will go on loan A good footballer but need toughening up like all the u21s do. |  |

Naughton is a very good championship defender & as other have said will be good for the younger players.
Never rated him when we were a PL side.
