Rumours for a while that finances are in trouble at Northampton, their new stand is taking longer to finish than Oldham’s. If the takeover doesn’t go through it looks like trouble.

Let's see if they can stump up £10 million by the deadline.I think we can probably guess the answer to that.

Council take possession of ground in lieu of debt and charge the club for playing there. Now, I wonder where that can lead ??

£10.2m debt for a Div 2 team is mind boggling....
Makes you wonder if they wanted the money with the intentions of not paying it back.....

My all time favourite Dale player Mr Lyndon Symmonds

The take over has fallen through. They have to find £ 10.25 million by Friday. The money was loaned to build a new stand, hotel etc. none of which have been completed.

Have they got any car parking spaces that they could flog?

Maybe organise a 5-a-side tournament?

This is why local authorities should NOT give money or loan money to professional, privately owned sports organisations and or stadiums, unless of course it can be shown completely that there is local tax payer's use of the facilities involved , allowed. Not unless the ground is used as full security, and that ground's value is good value to the local authority. I also don't agree with sponsorship by LAs for professional clubs, apart from the odd game. Of course football grounds might be able to be very good community assets, but that has to be shown to be the case.
