Most disappointing aspect for me was the mediocre fight in the second half. Felt like a few Premier League egos still around. We had 25 minutes in the first half where we completed dominated, but shooting was awful. We score during that period and its then a different game. But after their third we completely lost all fight.
Holgate was awful, KWP for all his dribbling ability isn’t a good defender. Where was he got their 1st goal? Consider Dozy and Mare luxuries, play only one of them at a time.
Agreed with Harrapuk on the possession football, they cut out our killer pass and off they go. Sunderland found it so easy to get at our back line!!! |

Nathan Jones’ post match interview was bizarre. Has he learned nothing from his failed time at Stoke? There it was rumoured that he couldn’t command respect from a load of prima Donnas and it appears from what he said in the interview that he’s fallen into the same trap! Suggesting that he is pandering to a certain way of football rather than stamping his brand on things seems to me like total bullshit from someone who is out of their depth in the PL.

Great result! No game in the PL is easy, league getting stronger each year. Trouble as i see it is when we park the bus we’ve got no where to go if the opposition does equalise. Bournemouth didn’t last night, but it could have been quite a different story! We did look solid at the back though!

Ralph has done well with most of his substitutions lately, so going to cut him some slack today, but he must have known that Norwich couldn’t be as lame in the second half! We were strolling around thinking this is going to be easy again and Norwich were up for it in the second half. His team talk I conclude was ‘let’s do what we were doing in the first half and will ignore what changes Norwich might do!’ They won a lot of second balls that they weren’t winning in the first half. I would have liked the Saints to have played more balls into the channels in the early part of the second half rather than the passing across the back line where we were getting ourselves into trouble. The momentum changed and it leads to Ralph then thinking I’ll just take a point now thanks, very negative against a poor side! |

Annoying BBC! Saints score 8 against Newport who have caused upsets in recent seasons and we don’t get a mention, but instead cover Arsenal!
We’ve gone from struggling at times last season to put a credible team out to now having a seemingly huge squad, with a lot of competition for places. Let’s hope that competition leads to improved individual performances and results. |

What I never understand is why all players who played in a tournament over the summer aren’t ready to play at the beginning of the season as suggested by Kri? What makes Bednarek and S Armstrong different to Che Adams?
I’ve always complained about Ralph’s inability to read how a game is going to change in the 2nd half and how he is constantly out thought by the position manager and yesterday was no different, Benitez puts Richarlison up front and Ralph does nothing. Everton were poor in the first half, did he really not think that Benitez would not make a change? I think our record of losing leads shows that Ralph never learns and isn’t brave enough to change systems to counter opposition changes!!!!!! |

Cardiff must have been really scared when they saw that Shane Long was leading the line for us?!!! You can’t question Shane’s endeavour, but you can question his ability at this level! You could hear the laughter in the crowd at Leicester, when he scored we knew we were going to win. We need to change the Manager before he will score again and I like Ralph and hope he is with us for a while and so don’t expect another Shane Long goal for a ‘long’ time!! |

Not linked to yesterday's day, but just noticed that Fulham are turning over Burnley. Burnley one point so far this season, against.........,away from home......... and yet after our game against them the consensus was that they had more competitive games than us thus they were sharper.......?! We're in big trouble already!!!! |
