Eze for England!
at 13:01 6 Jun 2024

Maddison has been in really poor form for Spurs post-injury and hasn't consistently been part of the England camp before. Grealish, despite his recent form, has been a big part of the England squad and knows how Southgate wants to play/what his role is. Plus is an option down the left rather than a crowded no.10 spot (Bellingham, Foden, Palmer, Eze).

Would hope that quite a few step up from the 18s who are a better crop. We've had quite an old U23s/EDS for some time, so important to bring that average age down.

Southgate has already said Kane is starting on Friday. Toney off the bench?

My two closest are The Princess Vic and The Askew.

I used to love the PV, but think it's gone massively downhill. Food not as good as it used to be, but the worst thing is the service. You'll be sat at the bar waiting while a couple of staff members are having a chat at the back, while one beleaguered barman is trying to cover four orders. Got the hump with it too many times, so won't go back unless pals are already in there. Also very pricey.

Askew is a cracking boozer. Recent change of management now the old Irish boy has moved to a pub in North London, but the landlady has been really good. Guinness/1664 still only £4.50 a pint which is almost unheard of in West London. Good service and decent screens for the football. Where I spend most of my time.

As a cyclist, the Hammersmith - Chiswick cycle lane is excellent and makes it feel far safer to cycle down having a designated lane, rather than having to constantly worry about being cut up or squeezed by other vehicles. The traffic in Chiswick is undeniably bad, but with limited road space there obviously has to be a trade-off somewhere. It's a no-brainer to choose the side that prioritises better health, less pollution & CO2 emissions, and safety for the more vulnerable road users.

I disagree, I don't mind Gallagher starting. He's had a good season for them lot, brings a fair bit of grit and energy to that midfield. It allows Jude to operate in the no.10 position where he's been one of the top 3 players in the world for Madrid. I wouldn't mind Trent in that deep role, depending on the opposition, or Mainoo. I like Wharton, but just a bit too early for him.

Extending the Young Adults ticket up until 25 is a nice touch - recognising the need to pull in and maintain the younger generation of Rs.

Jeche scored goals, but a lot of tap-ins. Doesn't offer much outside of the six yard box. Pedder always looked good, but too old now and very lightweight.

Tuck will be playing for Wales U19 this summer, so he's one to keep an eye on. Leahy at LB is one I hear very positive things about, and Emerson Sutton from the U18s as well who is a CM/winger.

Absolute dangers, moving 3 fixtures into the worst slot, that has to compete with BT/Discovery/TNT for the Prem game. This is going to be bloody awful.

Away Kit - WISHLIST 2024/25 Season
at 11:41 1 May 2024

Dan Norris, the QPR graphic designer fan, responsible for our current badge, knocked these up a while back and they're bloody marvellous. The issue Francis from the club shop raised, that others have mentioned, is not enough differentiation with the home kit to meet league rules.

Thicker hoops - basically the new kit with the colours swapped around. And Bucks - I didn't see that, have you got a screenshot?

There is, but I've heard from somebody who knows the kitman (daughter's, cousin's dogwalker's postman told me so) that it's pink & black hoops as the away kit. There was a pink flash on the initial announcement video, so could be linked. Or could be bollocks.

Again, putting it out there, this geezer is full of sh!t and will flog it for a profit. Did exactly this at the Euros - sold him tickets for the semis at face value because it's another R fan, and the people in the seats had no idea who he was. Absolute chancer

Pubs in Ealing

Rose and Crown is another cracking little pub. Cosy inside, big garden out the back, and in a nice secluded bit of South Ealing. Red Lion is nice as well - was last there during COVID when it was serving big takeaway 2 pint bottles of beer to drink in Walpole park

Cheers for the welcome all. Haven't tried the Dodo, but I'm only a stones throw so will have to pop in. You've also got the Owl and the Pussycat on Northfields Ave as well for micropubs, with a great cheese deli next door as well.

Definitely avoiding the Brewdog, although I do want to get well acquianted with the Guinness in O'Briens.

Pubs in Ealing

Bought a house in Hanwell recently, moving in next month so keen on this thread!

If you head down to Northfields Avenue The Foresters is run by Harry, the old landlord of the Crown, so looking forward to reuniting with him. The Grosvenor is a nice backstreet pub as well near West Ealing - all the football and live sport.

On the Wheatsheaf, I used to really like that pub. Great screen for the football at the back and the roasts were excellent. Last time I went in February though the food was rubbish - the style of the roasts had changed, so you were getting a wafer thin slice of carvery meat rather than a big chunk of pork belly like before. A lot of the menu had changed, so I can only assume it's under new management or a new chef, but really disappointing.
