Just to add a touch of context, he is not a train driver, he is Steve Hedley, senior assistant secretary for the RMT Union, he is not that brave either, having faced allegations of having a liking for beating his female partner. Allegations investigated by his own union and swept under the carpet without any semblance of due process. Maybe he now knows how his ex girlfriend feels.
As for the chap in the picture carry what looks like half a broom handle. The full incident is available. It started life as a banner pole, with a black flag on it. The original owner had used said banner pole as a club, until he lost his grip. It was then picked up by the chap in the shot.
But hey, don’t let that spoil your resident loony lefties account. |

Do you cranks actually believe that there are neo nazis and racists everywhere? While I am not qualified as a political analyst, from seventeen to twenty two years of age I was a member of the communist party GB , having worked out how anti democratic they were in both principle and process I moved on. We might have had room for detente / debate but you played the UAF card. They are , as we both know , an off shoot of the SWP. If you are going to try and gain the moral high ground in the sex case arena it might have been best if you hadn’t used an organisation with a history of misogyny and trying to cover up rape by a senior official on female members. See the trouble with mud slinging is , that you can only succeed if you are lily white. As for Tommy Robinson if he is a racist , show me the evidence. |

A skate here poking his nose in. The biggest issue here is not Tommy Robinson , nor what has happened to him. It is about how we have reached this stage. We have witnessed over the last twenty years the gradual erosion of the art of debate. At one stage a “ debate “ entailed people with differing opinions voicing those opinions and taking on board constructive critism of those ideas to alter them , based on an other persons fact based argument. This no longer happens as a general rule. Why ? For a whole number of reasons , not least cultural Marxism. The so called “ left “ in this country bears absolutely no resemblance to those with left leaning views from thirty years ago. Back then some of the brightest free thinkers came from that part of the political sphere. That is no longer the case , debate has been deliberately dumbed down . With every single individual labelled as being either left wing or right wing. Right wing being the convenient tag to put on anyone that holds differing views to yourself if you happen to be , so called , left wing. We no longer get debate from or with the left unless of course you happen to be of the left.
Bring about a society were small groups with self interest decide they can decide who and who cannot speak and leave that unchallenged and you are already on the road to totalitarian rule. When you back these views with violence to ensure that your aims are forced through you have taken another few steps further down that same road. We need to find a return to debating the argument not attacking those holding a view because it differs from your own. That and start showing the old fashioned and outdated principle of respecting the right of others to hold and voice opinions that differ from your own . Without that democracy cannot exist , and Tommy Robinson’s case is just another serious symptom of a wider disease. |
