Being serious now
at 08:07 26 Jan 2018

Looks a good finisher and useful for both attacking and defending set pieces.

Doesn't seem like he's had much of a look in at Monaco over the last two seasons so whilst goals per game isn't pretty, goals per 90 is decent.

We're putting in 21 crosses a game on average this season, hopefully he can get on the end of some of them!

Our discerning fans will surely have no problem going back to old favourites Yoshida or Ward-Prowse

1) Win the match
2) Sell Van Dijk

Not too tricky

I thought that, but then he'd of had to have intentionally spelt it wrong which seems a bridge too far.

Whilst it's tempting to draw parallels between Brexit and the Catalan independence movement, there's a key difference.

The Spanish government has not, and will never allow a referendum that they recognise as legal. The EU obviously has done, and certainly didn't send in riot police to attempt to break up the vote, imprison activists and then try to dissolve the UK government and impose direct rule.

Sorry - but I can't see HOW?
at 07:54 26 Oct 2017

Not sure, he's obviously been a successful manager by most standards wherever he's gone, with Lyon perhaps being the exception.

Honestly I think he got off on the wrong foot at Saints by changing a well drilled formation, and wasn't helped by the Fonte situation or the loss of Vic, Mané and Pelle. The fixture list wasn't kind either.

Events in Barcelona today
at 06:27 3 Oct 2017

ITYS - Of the three parties in the coalition government, one is called Esquerra Republicana - literally the republican left, and another is called CUP which is very much a radical left party.

In general - You can't compare this to Brexit or Scottish independence, because in those cases people were actually allowed to vote. Here the Spanish government sent in paramilitary police to smash there way into polling stations, steal ballot boxes and beat up peaceful voters.

There is a general strike in Catalunya today, and it's very likely there will be a declaration of independence in the coming days. The Spanish police are staying on cruise ships in the dock, I sincerely hope they stay in them or leave, because even on Sunday the Catalan police and firemen started sticking up for the people here, and if there's another attack it could get very nasty.

Why Is Nathan Redmond The Whipping Boy ?
at 06:47 18 Sep 2017

I don't agree with players getting abuse during the match, it's not like it's going to motivate them to do better, is it.

Redmond has been sh¡t though, and for me hasn't been incisive enough, or done well enough linking up with others to merit his place in the team at the moment.

Maybe he'll keep his place and pop up with a goal at the weekend, but I'd still say one swallow doth not a summer make. It's time to give either Boufal a run in the team at his expense, or to move Tadic to his more natural position and give JWP or Long a chance on the right.

Hopefully that can motivate him to get his head down and come back stronger when the opportunity arises, or even better, his good work forces it.

Redmond
at 13:05 17 Sep 2017

He's obviously got potential but his decision making isn't great. The three main things I see him doing are:

1) Receiving the ball fairly deep, passing straight back and then making a run where he is marked by two or three players and we can't get it back to him again.

2) Receive the ball higher up the pitch in an inside position, try and and beat his marker and lose it.

3) Receive the ball in a central position and shoot from 25+ yards which is a waste.

Some of this is probably the positioning he's been told to take up, but I don't think that's changed much from last season in his case.

Tadic has a lot more variety in where he looks to find space, is much more protective of the ball, finds his full back consistently and creates chances, he's light years ahead of Redmond.

I would personally give Long ago on the right of the attack and get Tadic back on the left where he seemed to do a lot more damage in seasons past.

Quiet Here Today
at 06:58 15 Sep 2017

There's a lot of talk across the Saintsosphere about just what is wrong or right with the club, but so many of these things have been done to death already that they don't bear banging on about anymore.

New owners- asset strippers or property developers
Van Dijk- rot in the reserves or show clemency
Attack- misfiring or not getting service
Forster- letting in too many goals or not getting protection
Chapel Kop extension- one we can all agree on
Eric Black- might or might not be a coont
Claude Puel- did better than he was treated or destroyed club morale
Les Reed- Visionary of the modern game or useless old codger
Kreuger- September One
'My Way' cover- joke
Ward-Prowse- Beckham 2 or slow as fook
Financials- asset stripping or fiscal prudence
Austin- offers fook all or incisive marksman
Yoshida- Great servant or liability

etc

Seems like we've reached a point of collective fatigue and can't much be bothered to even argue most of this any more, and in a lot of cases both positions have some truth to them. If things take more of a downturn the knives will be out again, just as they will if things improve. Right now we're just a bit sh¡te and things could go either way, people want something to care about.

You first, Pat.

What surprises me is that it's still 50/50 and could go either way, even as we enter the last day of the window.

I honestly don't care if he leaves, we need players who will fight for the club not go on strike.

If he's off and Walcott/Vietto (or both) come in we'll have had an excellent window. Now it's down to Pellegrino to put the pieces together.

Anyone else feeling uneasy ?
at 07:50 27 Aug 2017

Not yet.

The Van Dijk siruation clearly isn't helping the manager clear out the negativity which we saw growing last season, and it will take time for him to turn the ship around in terms of tactics and attitudes.

Player plus points

Forster has been back to making some saves this season, which is nice to see.

Lemina looks an excellent signing, and Hoedt is still to be integrated.

Player minus points

Redmond has been awful, he contibuted nothing yesterday except two pot shots from outside the area, and for one of those Gabbi had put himself in a great position. Boufal needs to be given a run in the team at his expense.

Bertrand looked disinterested, whether thats because he fancies a move or is fed up with his team mates who knows.

Davis whilst not being awful, hasn't done enough for me to be keeping Ward Prowse on the bench.

Team I'd like to see against Watford:

--------------------Forster--------------------
Cedric----Stephens--Hoedt---Bertrand
---------Lemina-----------Romeu----------
----Boufal----Ward-Prowse--- Tadic----
-----------------Gabbiadini------------------

Shane long to Burnley
at 21:23 10 Aug 2017

I like Long but if there's a 10m offer on the table we should bite their hand off. Let's be honest he's given us a few good moments but he really isn't good enough and will only get worse and decrease in value.

Add the money to whatever else we have in the kitty and get a top class right winger in along with the CB we're crying out for. We're fine for strikers with 3 for one position Gabbi/ Austin /Gallagher.

--------------------Forster--------------------
Cedric---Stephens--New CB--Bertrand
------------Lemina-------Romeu-----------
-----New RW----Boufal---------Tadic-----
-----------------Gabbiadini------------------

---------------McCarthy--------------
Pied----Gardos--Yoshida--Targett
--------Hojbjerg----Clasie-----------
-----JWP-------Davis---Redmond--
-----------------Austin-----------------

Plus:

Gallagher
Bednarek
McQueen
Sims
Hesketh

The technology is there, it just needs to be put into practice.

Tesla have been building expensive sports models to leverage mass production of more affordable cars, the latest model has just gone into production last month, and already has half a million pre-orders.
