So Moyes did ‘school’ us? Certainly in our first season up we got absolutely battered down here.
Yet, our manager that day has gone to a big club and proven himself and is set to win a league title. Moyes flopped, badly.
Only shows that sometimes, your resources limit what you can do. It was no surprise we got smashed by an experienced, talented side. Nothing to do with Moyes being some kind of tactical guru who worked us out, in my view.
Last season, they did the same thing to us down here with ML in charge. But where Rodgers went to Goodison with exactly the same approach later in the season, ML mostly abandoned our playing style in the return game. Putting Rangel on the wing to shut down Baines coming forward and Nathan Dyer in some kind of strange hybrid striker role. We bored the stadium to a 0-0 draw. Moyes had no answer. | | | |
