I would have said that the Lib Dems were more left of centre than New Labour before Clegg decided to attach the Party to the Conservatives in order to form the Government following the last Election. This begs the question as to which Party represents the lower middle and working classes. Perhaps in Wales it's Plaid Cymru. | | | |

She's not bigoted, she's feeling betrayed. Let's just recap her worries: the state of public finances, the cost of her grandchildren going to university, her pension and the scale of immigration. This isn't something in the abstract, Clase, this is bread and butter.
The way the old girl is regarded by Labour tells you just about everything you need to know about what Labour has become. The mockery is borne of an absolute disconnect. Her so-called representatives have no empathy because they have no experience of the worries and priorities of people like Mrs Duffy. Labour (though this could equally apply to all three old gang parties) are staffed almost exclusively by careerists of the unctuous and fundamentally corrupt variety.
It's the entire Labour edifice that has been weighed in the balance and found wanting, not Mrs Duffy, and not for the first time. [Post edited 31 May 2014 4:46]
