Online Roulette Thread * Fun * gamblers ! 02:40 - May 30 with 2095 viewsScoobyWho

Like many football fans I do an acca every week, £5 only, and for the season I am £40 up, had some biggies but overall it evens out.

I also put in a tenner a week in to online roulette, this week with William Hill. Purely for fun. It's all a game of chance but recently I've been trying a few systems out. The best so far is the double up system.

Eg - £1 on red, if it wins switch to black put a £1 on. If that loses double up the next bet to £2. If that loses double up to £4 and keep doubling until you win then switch again to the other colour starting at £1 again ( you can also do it with any figure, so instead of £1 you can use 10p a spin using the same method. Last week I made £80 in three hours, the week before £120. It can't be fool proof because the house always wins eventually. And I'm told the key is not to be greedy or the online gaming company will shut you down. They factor in strategies like this in their business plans because most people just have a punt and that by far cancels out a strategy. And of course all formulas at some point fail. You can also use this on evens and odds as well on the table.

Hope I'm making sense, so anyone else got a formula for a potential quick hit. I know they don't always work otherwise roulette wouldn't be a game and everyone would be a winner, but it's always good to try a few new ones. And if you are a 10p a spin player, it won't harm at all.

Ah yes, the Martingale system.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martingale_(betting_system)

Anyone who has ever played roulette,be it online or at a casino, will no doubt have seen a run of 2-3 blacks/reds come up and will feel there is more chance that the opposite will come next. In reality the martingale method will screw over every punter who tries to follow it through, eventually either the limit at the bookie/wheel or the punters bankroll will see to that.

Incidentally roulette should be played, in my opinion, without taking into account the previous numbers, seeing as these have no impact on what comes up next. Each spin is completely independent and as such whilst there may have been 12 reds in a row, the probability of a black coming up on the 13th spin is still just under 50%.

Personally when I have played roulette in the past (I find the odd trip to the casino quite enjoyable) I like to stick to 0 and the neighbours of this, and it's usually payed off for me.

I hope you don't take this as a lecture as I can see you mention only playing with minimal stakes which is good, however I didn't want someone to see your post and assume the martingale is foolproof. I've seen too many lose good money on these 'systems'. I'm more of a football betting man myself, used to be accumulators and now singles - used to be for the fun of it and now it's more to make money.

If you have time take a look at this strategy I came across recently, based around betting on draws in football and similar to your doubling down method.

Anyway that's enough to bore just about everyone on this forum so I think I'll leave it there.

If your going to gamble do it when you are getting the edge rather than giving the edge
martingpale is the oldest system in the book and you are doomed to failure when the long losing run hits you like it eventually will.
the best advice I can give you is I stick to your fun accas pick your teams go to an odds comparison site see which bookie gives the best odds then place with them betting is all about value and to win long term or maximise return you must get the best odds.
Also look for the the bookie that gives special deals like money back if you only have one loser in a 5 or more team acca also you'll find better odds online than in the shops even with the same firm for example you will get 4/7 online with coral but only 1/2 in the shop sometimes.
These type of things are the difference between winning and losing long term.

A flutter on the football, horses or whatever is okay, as long as you can afford it and you don't let it get a grip on you.

It's when people go chasing their losses that the fun starts.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Martingale is perfect, if you have infinite resources/funds.. I've personally seen Black come up 15 times in a row. The amount of money that the house won on red bets in that time, I cannot begin to calculate.

If we're using Martingale and starting on £1, then if the above transpires then by the time the 15th bet comes around we're laying a £25,000 bet.

Ive never understood Roulette, if you're gambling then you're looking for an edge, and there are no edges to be found on any type of wheel. It's a race between you and the house that you will not win, so always get out while you're ahead.

I'm more of a poker man myself, I would say I've broken even overall in that over a few years, and won tidy sums in one off tournaments/sessions (highest being £300)

A very good and clear analysis, for me this is the answer. Nobody will beat the bookie, but now and again with a degree of luck and a system you may make a dent .

I tried the $1 on red, $1 on red, $1 on red scheme on a trip to Las Vegas in March.

I avoided the human tables on the basis that the minimum stake in Planet Hollywood was a whopping $10 and instead took on the virtual wheel that seats up to 6 players at a time. In simple terms the algorithms of these machines are set up so that the machine wins overall. However when attempting the $1 scheme with a full compliment of 6 players you can come out on top as the machine isn't interested in taking me to the cleaners for $1 and is instead looking to beat those putting down bigger bets. My other tactics involved sitting out the odd spin and cashing out every so often and immediately starting over again as if I was a new player. After 2 hours ish of this I was up $167 and I didn't see more than 5 consecutive losses equated to a $32 bet, however as someone implied above the stakes rise sharply from this point if the losses continue.

Although this was a fairly healthy return it was also mind numbingly boring and it was the combination of free ish Bud and the dancers that made it more interesting.

Regardless of any of the above:
- keep it fun!
- know your limit!
- don't chase a bad result!
