Up until about a fortnight ago, I had never been convinced about the Ayew as centre forward thing but when you think about who out of Ayew, Gomis & Eder looks like he's capable of scoring and it's a no brainer at the moment. Ok, he may get marked a bit closer without a target man nearby but until we get a decent #9 in January, it's gotta happen now.
As for the Leon/Cork position, Leon's probably more up to speed now and moves the ball quicker but either would do for me. |  | | |

Thought that once we got going against Liverpool the linkup down the right was good, I'd like to see that have more time to develop. Taylor is a better player than Naughton so I think he can deal with Ayew in front of him, plus Ayew seems to do more defensive work on the left for whatever reason. Lots has been said about the midfield, that doesn't need repeating, we had a zip to our passing, I wouldn't change a thing but I think Monk will. Fernández is miles better than Bartley but has been poor this season, hopefully he will return from the bench better for the rest. Eder put a shift in so wouldn't be gutted to see him start, Gomis looked lively (by his recent standards) coming off the bench so I'd give him the start to see if the time out of the team has done him some good. |  |
