Ummmm... Labour are not in power by the way. It's those Tories who are running the country and causing all the problems.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Why are there so many anti-Left and anti-Labour Party sentiments expressed on this forum?

Very rare to get any Tory-bashing on here, and it's usually those in power who get all the stick. Strange.

Anyway, fug all the Right-wing fuggers on here....tomorrow night I'm off to see Ken Loach's new film, "I, Daniel Blake" just so I can get myself in a seething froth (again) about the disgraceful & sickening imbecility of the Benefits system in this country.

The majority of young members actually voted for Owen Smith. It's not the youth of the party that's the problem. I think you'll find it's the middle class lefties and old school socialist worker party types that can't help themselves with throwing abuse around. But you'd be right to suggest that since the summer of 2015 people with those questionable opinions have felt that the Labour Party is a much safer space.

There are plenty of young "class warriors".

Quite a few wheezy, stiff-kneed specimens knocking about too, Bluey, they tend to be more amusing. The shrillness of the young, grubby version tends to grate quite quickly.

I sense young naturally tend towards the left - why wouldn't they, 95% of teachers are in unions after all.

As they experience life, they realise the dogma and bs is entirely that.

Of course, you get the odd old rabid mangy mutt, the kind you see on those police motoring shows that rant about "state oppression" when asked for their details after being caught speeding. Some even get elected Labour leader, only to self-implode.

Hmm - stereotyping evil Lefties as filthy & unkempt.

Seems you have a quite visceral hatred for them.

I'm as clean and fresh as they come: T M Lewin shirts, shower twice daily, liberal with the Creed Aventus, and a nice pair of pointy, red brogues for kicking Tory shins with.

More likely to be an unhealthy bigotry after a lifetime of myopia.

Nice to chat, but this little Leftie has to be up at 5.30am for work (yes, some of us work) - zombie droning for the Capitalist machine to put bread on the table.

ps - you need to change that name of yours - some people might get the wrong idea.

Ian Gow murdered by those lovely IRA people - seat contested, gained by the Lib Dems.

Ah! Bluey, if it's morality and a consistently upheld code of ethics you seek then finding it in the midden of British party politics is going to be like probing for golf balls in the snow.

Maybe because we live our lives in a distorted prism presented to us by those lovable rogues Murdoch, Rothermere, Desmond and the Barclays?

If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face--forever.

It seems to me that opinion is becoming highly polarised and that meaningful dialogue across the various divides is becoming more difficult. The thing that depresses me most is how the very people who were complaining about the demonization of the working classes ten or fifteen years ago are now using disparaging language like 'proles', lumpen proletariat, knuckle-draggers, the great unwashed' and 'thickos' to discount the views of ordinary people who supported policies they don't agree with. Some of the posts in the comment columns of the Guardian (when comments are allowed) and Indy are disgraceful. And most of these people regard themselves as progressives!

They are exactly the sort of asides you'd expect to find buried in the comments section of The Guardian and Independent, John. It's where the rootless internationalists imagine they are just talking amongst themselves.

That working people of this country, or any for that matter, with their instinctive patriotism and sense of self haven't as yet been made to feel the proper sense of shame that a perverse ideology demands of them must be a source of immense frustration for the 'progressive red.'

I think that angle is overplayed, Jack. That print media lies, that politicians lie, has become an article of faith because it is rooted in demonstrable fact. Claims emanating from either source are now being greeted with open derision by many awakening to the fact they have been gulled and the means by which the deception is carried out.

There are indeed. Many young sh*theads too that I've known in my time.

Just relaying my experiences in the Labour Party at the minute. From what I've seen, the oldies are much more up for a scrap than the youngsters. We've got youth conference in Swansea next month though so who knows what might happen. I might be talking out of my @rse. I'll let you know if I can be bothered to go. Wales are playing rugger on the Saturday and Swans have Man Utd at home on the Sunday.

I think we both have an inkling as to how the conference will go, Ace.

Perhaps I ought to invest in a stripey mohair sweater, ox-blood Doc Martens and dye my hair green so I can be a fly on the wall?

You really do have the wrong image

A "Jez we can" tee shirt and some scuffed jeans and converse would be more appropriate.

TBH I might give it a miss, especially with the Utd game on the sunday

Meaningful dialogue is difficult because of the natural tendency to shout down any opinion that is different to theirs and decry it as racist or offensive. It's very rare that people of differing opinions can have a sensible constructive debate anymore.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
