All over twitter supposedly.

Good player but suprised if he is the Ntcham replacement as he is more of a holding midfielder.

I would say a good quality LWB and we are good to go as long as there are no other major departures.

Ntcham fee will open up a bit more leeway to push on with LWB.

Wonder if this will allow Grimes to play further forward in line with Duff’s comments after the B’ham game.

I can see Martin coming in for Grimes, JWP signing for West Ham.

Southampton are accumulating quite a war chest

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Provided we get a decent price I’d be ok with that.

We must keep Grimes unless unless its to good to turn down 10mil+ .
Southampton need to stump up for russy and his band of merry men first.

I would sell him for £3 million, I think we need freshening up in the middle. I would like to see someone dictating our midfield with quicker tempo.

Even when you know, you never know?

3 million is a bit cheap imo, Grimes is a more than decent player and as previously posted could be much more effective further forward .Joes not going to play nor complete every game ,

If any club rate him enough to put in an offer it's £7-£8M for me or he stays.

its a valid point but 3mil come on mate he is worth 7-10 all day.
If we sold him for even 10 then failed to replace him we would be screwed.
Who could replace Matt? Who would you rather at championship level?

I think that's why Patino is coming here, a real young box to box midfielder who can score and assist

Arsenal wanted to sell Patino this Summer but haven't had any takers.

Could well be available next Summer, if he's a success here who knows

Well if he does well with us then unless we get to the PL I suspect that a PL will take him.

Was Duff's comment about Joe Allen's leadership indicating something?

For me this loan signing is all about accumulating strength in depth throughout the squad.

If he is box to box then that would make him more of a Ntcham replacement because that's basically the last thing that you could accuse Grimes of being in recent years.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Def a Ntcham replacement.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Remember when we played three wingers against West Brom? I'd love to see that kind of creative thinking return, rather than sticking to the same formation and going for like-for-like replacements when a player leaves.

I’m not sure I would class either Ntcham or Grimes as box to box. Fer was probably the last genuine one we’ve had. Downes looked like he could have been, but was played further back.

We haven’t had a big, powerful striker for a long time either. Llorente? Gyokores fitted the description but didn’t quite cut it.

Nice to have different types of player available.

Who is the set piece specialist?. The guy that can curle in a 25 yarder?. Ginnelly can zap a moving ball for sure but what about corners and free kicks?

Manning was a step up on Grimesy but Grimesey is back on duty.

Wise sage since Toshack era

I’ve read it back and it makes sense to me.

Llorente was the last striker of that ilk I can remember.
Gyorkores had the attributes but couldn’t quite cut it.
