What do you think fossil fuels are? They are hydrocarbons. Loads of tiny dead creatures that were made from carbon, which came from co2 in the atmosphere. It'll take Millions of years to happen. The coal beneath South Wales is about 400 million years old, the gas in our homes about 250 million years old and the oil that produxes fuel in our cars about 160 million years old.
Clearly no problem there, we can just wait 400 million years fro the balance to be restored.

The oceans emit it too when they warm. So, do you see how it all balances out naturally? It takes time, but it balances out eventually.
The organisms that died are hydrocarbons, which contain co2. Same with planting more trees, they absorb co2, but when they die the co2 goes back into the atmosphere or land.
There is only so much co2 on the planet, we cannot take it away or add to it, that's why being carbon neutral is not possible | | | |
