Really, because a specialist oncology nurse who I'd have trusted with my life urged me to get one. After 25 years as a specialist oncology nurse I think I'll trust her advice.

Really, because a specialist oncology nurse who I'd have trusted with my life urged me to get one. After 25 years as a specialist oncology nurse I think I'll trust her advice.

The urologist that examined me swore by the PSA blood test, my results has never been above 1 in the 10 or more years that I've had the tests, usually twice a year has I got older, they take the blood the same time I have the cholesterol/liver blood tests usually but I have the PSA twice a year, cholesterol is usually once a year.
The check to see if the prostate is enlarged isn't pleasant, but I've only experienced that 3 times, the magic eye up the old John Thomas is really unpleasant and stings for around the next 12 to 24hrs just got to drink gallons of water/liquid to keep away infections after the procedure. | |

I have mine tested every 3 months and since my combined treatment my PSA is un detectable which means although the cancer is there, its being controlled , should it start to rise again then further tests will take place , so although I'm now at the other end of the prostate journey my oncologist still considers the PSA test an important indicator.
Maybe I'm being too open in discussing my personal life but obviously this is important to me and as a far as I'm aware you've been lucky not to have met me in the real world . | |

I got enough issues with my youngest at the moment, I'm still seeing blood in my urine with no other symptoms, so until somin changes there I'm just carrying on. | |
