Thoughts with him he is suffering with Parkinson’s. Was the ref at Wembley May 2011.

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

So sorry to hear that news , I always thought during our PL years and we had him as the official I always thought he favoured us .

I don't think he favoured us, I thought he was fair. Refs these days seem to play to the audience, it's as much about them as the match. As we see with that twon Bobby Madeley.

I'v got every sympathy for Dowd, it's a horrible disease.

Anyone suffering and entering their last phase of life deserves sympathy.

Remember one match against Chelsea he completely bowed down and let John Terry ref the game.

Sad news.
Phil Dowd was one of the best refs on the circuit.
He struggled a bit on the fitness tests apparently.
Sometimes think what would have happened in the play off final with a different ref.
Two good penalty decisions.
Good news he refereed us that day..

Maybe I'm biased but feel most refs are against us and I wonder if it's a subconscious English / Welsh thing. But with Phil Dowd that wasn't the case - very fair to us and probably my favourite ref ever..Always remember my son shouting for a foul, Phil Dowd heard him and replied . Class act.

One of his assets was his communication with the players which goes a long way.
