If Hinckley C went up South Wales would need evacuation. It seems no expense spared.

That's the price you pay for a reliable generation and transmission system .I do chuckle when I pass badly drawn / written signs stating no Pylons here , wondering why should get the benefits without the hurt that others have .

This will provide 7% of our electricity now, but demand will more than double with more EVs, more data centres and so on.This is an expensive failure

The failure is in not building more nuclear plants. This plant itself can't be a failure unless it doesnt work.

We haven’t had any power cuts yet, but there are a number of reports in existence highlighting the future threat to supply due to a lack of generating capacity. As a country we’re falling behind the curve, the last big coal power station which is retained as a back up in times of exceptional demand is being decommissioned later this year, we can’t connect renewable sites to the grid, Hinckley C is behind schedule. We need a more coordinated long term approach which isn’t purely dependent on market forces.
