Read in the papers that another of the Kinnock dynasty is a potential parliamentary candidate in the constituency of Aberavon.Another man of the people for the people, once your family is on the gravy train no one wants to alight.

It shouldn't be allowed, candidates should have to come from or have lived in the area for at least five years.

Bet he gets it too.Port Talbot has always been a staunch Labour stronghold and with Hwyel Francis stepping down next year no doubt we'll see Kinnock jnr take up the mantle. The thing with Port Talbot is as long as you keep the steelworks open then everyones happy. It's all he'll have to do.

I know next to next nothing about the son but its not fair really to damn him because you dislike the father.

Married to Danish Prime Minister - the one in the selfie with Obama and Cameron at Mandelas funeral. He lives in London, will probably visit Port Talbot once a year for a photo shoot. Whole family on the gravy train, that is British Politics.

Having looked at that list of Labour's prospective candidates the best suited to Aberavon would be the Sikh, Parmjit Dhanda. He's an Engineer and seeing as the main responsibility an MP would have for that constituency would be the well-being of The Abbey Works he'd be fluent in the right languages, both technical and as a touchstone with TATA itself.

Still don't get why Neil Kinnock, a man who never held power in the UK ever, gets so much hatred.

And why it's "disgusting" that his son should be allowed to stand for Parliament is beyond me. A tip for the people of Aberafan or wherever it is - if you don't want Kinnock Jnr as your MP, don't vote for him. It's all in your hands, nothing Kinnock Jnr can do about it.

Problem is nobody will admit to voting for him yet probably around 50% of those who do vote will do exactly that, and then spend the next Christ knows how long moaning about how much they hate him. See also - Peter Hain in Neath.

Idiots.

I know. We even let the Irish and Australians et al stand for Parliament here.

As I said, all the power is in the hands of the electorate. Don't like him? Don't like the fact that he's not local? Don't like the fact that his dad was apparently a ginger devil incarnate?

Simple - don't vote for him.

Someone else who, with one exception when he got 46%, always gets more than 50% of the available vote every time he stands for election.

Yet everyone hates him and no one apparently votes for him.

Whilst you are as ever correct we all know that there is no safer Labour seat than Aberavon so like it or not the residents are going to have to put up with whoever the great and good of the party decide to parachute in.

The point is mate they don't HAVE to put it with it. They have the power. Don't vote for him.

As for "democracy". Nah. The electoral system for Westminster MPs is an affront to the very word.

And just to point out that there are also vast swathes of safe Tory seats where the Conservatives could field the proverbial donkey with a blue rosette and they'd still vote for it. Bugs the crap out of me when people imply that it's a purely Labour phenomenon like all Labour voters are unthinking sheep whereas all Tory voters are making an educated and informed choice.

(Last point not specifically aimed at Gower Jack, just a general rant).

Funny you should say that the same person told me earlier that there could possibly be a by-election in Richmond because the current Tory could resign for Boris to walk back in the commons.

I have no idea if that's been n the news.

Regrettably our best chance for a generation of a decent chance of PR being introduced to Westminster elections disappeared when that slithy cove Clegg climbed into bed with Dangerous Dave.
