With Cardiff now resigned to being a lower league club for the foreseeable, if we were to play them in a cup match this season, assuming we were to play our strongest team, what do you think the score would be?

I know that being a derby they would be well up for getting one up on us and it's a leveller but surely we would put 2 or 3 past them.

On merit it would be a comfortable 5-0.

As you say though, things can be different in the heat of a derby and their players would be right up for it with nothing to lose.

I'd still go for 5-0 though.

If we were at home then i would expect to put 3 or 4 past them without reply. If we were away, anything could happen, and it most probably would. Cup tie, Derby, hostile crowd? Could be any score between 0-5 us to 1-0 them.

Clearly Swansea are the bigger club and have been bar a few seasons for the past 40 years or so. Be that through promotions, playing big league football, winning a major trophy, Europe etc ....
Of course there is the bigger fan base throughout Wales as well, which reflects the amount of Swansea fans in East Wales as an example. Transfer fees, money in via income streams, stability, assets, worldwide recognition and players managers now at big clubs through the Swansea system. Even the Engkand ladies manager !

They are low. So low, and could well go lower.

If we did play they would be played off the pitch, the result could be anything.

In all seriousness, if it was a League Cup game I would expect us to rest several player for the Premier League on the weekend. With our squad now I would still expect us to win by 2 or 3.

They find comfort in our two Administrations, but they fail to comprehend that it will be liquidation for them, on a scale if not bigger than Glasgow Rangers if Tan pulls the plug.

Well sorry a GeoffThom but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

And those Cardiff boys were well advised to hide behind the police that day, well advised.

It's all a part of the journey. And some journey's end with some degree of humour !

To reply to the question. I can only point to the most recent events. A Swansea side that has since improved markedly absolutely ass whipped a Cardiff side that has since declined rapidly 3-0 at home. So a home draw, even with a weakened side would certainly replicate, most likely beat that scoreline.

If it were away then the same tactics of 10 men behind the ball, kick and clap, hoping to get a free kick or a corner would no doubt be employed by Cardiff as in their last marginal win. This time, as Swansea is so much better and Cardiff so much worse and Swansea now commands at defensive set pieces, the likelihood is a routine win, say 2-0 for the higher division outfit.

They're really pushing the boat out when it comes to recruitment.

A slow start could well see them struggle.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

In an interview with the BBC in February last year, Tan categorically ruled out the prospect of Cardiff turning blue again under his watch. “No way I will change it back to blue under my ownership,” he said. “Perhaps they can find an owner who likes blue, pay up and buy me out. Sure they can go and change it to blue after that. I go somewhere and build another red club.”

Of course they will keep burying their heads in the sand.

Yes, there is currently a chasm between us and them, but most of that is down to us.

They are still a mid table championship team, which for most of the last 40 years they would have been more than happy with.

We know the championship is unpredictable, so a good run could get them in the play off lottery, equally if they continue their current trajectory they could be heading into league one.

We lost to a mid table championship team.in the FA cup last year.

I (really) believe there is more chance that we will finish in the top 6 of the PL than them finishing in the top 6 of championship.
