Is a one match stand down enough of a punishment.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66506026

IMO no, the standard of refereeing is abysmal and officials are relying too much on VAR to overrule their mistakes. Stand them down for a month and insist they do more training, do it again and they are out.

Fergie was just brilliant.
He changed football ,at least for the PL.
Beating them resonates very powerfully with me

It seems to me that VAR, though trying to take the subjectivity out of such a decision get confused on what is a clear and blatant foul

I’ve not seen it, I don’t need to to know that if it was the other way around it would have been given.

When the "authorities" apologise for a blatant error you have to ask WTF? How can experienced officials get it so wrong and so often too.

Mind you, it seems that it also happens in rugby,

It seems like the chosen few get away with most things.

Farrell perverse decision is very concerning.
It blows away the bogus claims the RZunis trying to make the game safer
Farrell is allowed to do what he wants.
It’s genetic

Watching the game on Saturday with predominantly english commentators all admitting that Farrell has form for those sort of "tackles' then to hear the decision today ,it does make you think just what the hell is going on at the top flight of sport . I'm no fan of Wolves or Utd but at the end of the season those 3 points dropped can and often does make a difference

If a player had taken another player out without the ball on any other part of the playing field it would have been a foul.

Terrible decision - Man U get the rub of the green again. I’m not a fan of either club, but I do have sympathy for Wolves.

Re VAR, in the Women's World Cup, they are entrusting more to the referee ( what a novel idea ) and relying less on VAR.
I think the game is better for that

This is where I get angry about people who say things like it ruins the game, did the ref not want to ruin the game by sending the manc keeper off?

The rules are the rules and nobody should escape punishment because it changes the game.

I don't know why the ref and VAR let this go but they need re-training because it's horrendous. If Wolves go down a pont short of safety they will all be looking back at this, never mind the other 37 games.

Not forgetting that for each place up the table a team finishes, their domestic merit share goes up by another £1,688,958.
