Morning Keith. Seems a quiet week,at least for me . Plenty of leeway I would have thought I worked in Plod with somebody who used to play pro basketball in Houston whilst younger and was then the coach for Chester Jets. We got free tickets, hospitality etc but Dear God,we found it boring . Yet,it’s lifeblood to most Yanks .NFL is better as a soectacle although the fights make it . I’m a lover of many sport but frankly, and it might be age,the thrill has gone . I might take up the Piccolo to entertain myself [Post edited 14 Nov 2023 9:49]

Hi Ste You might recall I was a huge boxing fan and can recall great fights going back to Marciano era . Simply, the fact we have / had someone like Tyson Fury as a world champion tells all. Classless and graceless

Is sport becoming boring on 12:47 - Nov 14 with 1510 views | ModeratorD | Was never much into sport, but last few months watched darts, tennis, cricket, golf, rugby union and women's football. All enjoyable I must say. Plus enjoyed snooker. Maybe I need to get out more I find football is the best game, the VAR just adds to the drama of it. Not sure it has added any clarity on decisions | | | | Login to get fewer ads

For all its faults I would love to have VAR in the Championship. Our last two sending offs wouldn't have stood for a start.

Is that right? Are yellows subject to VAR reviews? If so, then you are spot on.

I thought they were if it resulted in a sending off. But I could be wrong.

I was wrong. VAR cannot review a yellow card, but it can lead to one.

Thought that may be the case. Nothing was going to redress the ineptitude of the refs theses last two games.

VAR ... "In the event that the on-field referee awards a yellow or red card to the wrong player, or is unsure of the player to award it to, the VAR will advise the referee as to the correct player to be disciplined."

Is sport becoming boring on 14:51 - Nov 14 with 1365 views | BryanSwan | VAR isn't for me, it was meant to eliminate mistakes but it hasn't achieved that and in some circumstances lead to more. I'd rather VAR go or be extremely simplified especially in regard to offside (just use the furthest foot, which would give an attacking advantage too. Its the style of play that has impacted me, players are overcoached to the extreme and very rarely take risks or show any flair. Where are the Okochas, Trundles, Tarabts etc etc.

Does that mean Ashby would have been sent off instead?

Is sport becoming boring on 20:47 - Nov 14 with 1235 views | SullutaCreturned | I think sport has become boring. We have seen the elimination of real competition at the top level and now there are a small group of clubs or individuals with a real chance of winning anything. Organisations are favouring the big names and the rules are set so they benefit the most financially so it's becoming a virtual closed shop, the EPL is anyway. Then there's the modern thought process that passing for passings sake is entertaining? The Championship is the more entertaining of the top 2 divisions but even there we see that 2 clubs are virtually nailed on for promotion, Ipswich are the fly in the ointment there but Leeds and Southampton will make a fight of it, oitside of them it's very much a muchness.

Unable to review a yellow card that's been given, but can instruct the ref to give one, how does that work then, what a stupid pathetic ruling that is, dear me.

I agree nothing beats live sport but I would say live events are another matter. Having been to both Olympic and Commonwealth games several times you are better off watching at home. Yes I have incredible memories and thoroughly enjoyed the live events I saw but you miss so much, as there is so much going on at the same time.

Unable to review, unable to appeal if after the match too, it is very silly and unfair. A yeloow card you shouldn't have got should be open to appeal. Likewise I believe if the officials misses something a manager should be able to cite it after the game. Just like rugby AND a yellow card, how about a sin bin too, 15 minutes God, I just imagined being reffed by Madeley again if there were sin bins.
Is sport becoming boring on 11:07 - Nov 16 with 956 views | sw02sea | MARTINBALL was the start of it for me, it Bored me to (a slow) death. Me and my mate stopped going to matches at the Liberty. This was the First time we had missed games, since we put stickers under 2 seats, to reserve them, when the stadium was first built. Now I’m starting to feel the same with DUFFBALL. If he doesn’t bring speed into the team,in the long term, it’s going to be a hard watch. What’s the point of paying a small fortune for a youth academy, if your not going to utilise it’s assets? As John & Yoko used to say …. “Give pace a chance”
