Unless youre a valleys fan, you shouldn't be going anywhere near heads of valleys.
The 483 is ok apart from Llandrindod wells to Newtown.
It's just uou have to concentrate.
Coming back road will empty and from the Wallasey tunnel its a fast run to Oswestry and a reasonable straight road to Newtown.
From Llandovery its a blast.

It's a few more miles but quicker if you go to Rhayader and up to Newtown. Also, once you get to Beulah go "over the top" to Newbridge on Wye, it cuts out Builth and saves 5 miles.
Newbridge on Wye to Liverpool that way is 2 hours 15 mins if the roads are not chaotic.
It's 1 hour 30 mins swansea to Newbridge. So as previous poster said, 3 hours 45 total. [Post edited 26 Oct 2014 11:34]
